4.0 out of 5 stars Great for long boards.
It works.

(I cannot wax eloquently about something so basic and simple.)

The supports are easy to setup -- I spent 20 minutes to assemble everything. Of the 20, I spent 10 minutes fiddling with the alignment to get it exactly the way I wanted.

3.0 out of 5 stars Supports
I bought these with the saw, but they are to short to support much. I don't think they are worth the price. I think that a seperate outfeed roller would work better.

It works.

(I cannot wax eloquently about something so basic and simple.)

The supports are easy to setup -- I spent 20 minutes to assemble everything. Of the 20, I spent 10 minutes fiddling with the alignment to get it exactly the way I wanted.

The only "minus" is that the support sags a little bit when fully extended. I could feel the sag while cross cutting a long board.

Still, even with the sag, the support makes it possible for me to cut long pieces. I was making many 4" pieces from 6' boards. The side support made the work quick and safe.

If you can park your saw against a workbench, you can use your workbench as your side/outfeed support (park the saw next to the bench at the correct height); but, if you work without a bench, or want your supports attached to the saw, this side/outfeed support kit is a must-buy.

BTW -- The setup instructions mentioned that the saw's mount points lacked screw threads, and that you had to use the included self-tapping screws with a drop of motor-oil. On my saw, however, the threads were already there. After you order the supports, you might want to check your table saw and see if there are pre-threaded mounting holes. If you don't see threaded mounting holes, go find some machining/motor oil.

These things are great. They are firm enough to support the work when ripping or cross cutting long stock. They do what they are supposed to do and are a must have if you own the dewalt 744.

I have used this the dewalt portable table saw with this accessory and it really helps when cutting long pieces. The outfeed part is really helpful for me since I am usually working alone.

How did I use the saw without these. (My wife knows!) Glad I bought them as they are very handy.

3.0 out of 5 stars misleading advertising, October 17, 2011

We feel mislead. This popped up as an accessory for a saw we purchased. The saw is model 745 and the extensions fit model 744. None are made to fit 745. We are very disappointed that we must pay extra to return this item, since it is incompatible with what we purchased. Be very careful when given recommendations by the computer.

Easy to install and works fine. Reason for only four stars is because they sage a little from weight; although I don't think enough to affect the cut.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pricey but worth it., November 10, 2006

How to make an excellent saw even better? Add the side and rear extensions, especially if you work a lot by yourself. O'kay, so they're kind of steep -- still make you work smarter and safer. Faster too -- so they ought to pay for themselves pretty quick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outfeeds, January 17, 2010

Ordered these for Christmas from DeWalt. They are made overseas (Taiwan) and the side support was packed damaged from the factory. 1-800-4-DEWALT was great customer service, they sent me a replacement within a day.

The kit is a great addition on the DW744. I tote my tools to my in-law's farm to do repairs, and it's a great help when cutting material.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality upgrade to stock saw, May 16, 2009
This review is from: DEWALT DW7441 Side and Outfeed Support (Tools & Home Improvement)
Quality product, and a great upgrade for Dewalt's portable table saw. It does add a bunch of weight to the saw decreasing its ease of portability, but we are all strong backed carpenters, right?! Anyway, the feed supports were very easy to install (took about twenty minutes) and work very well when working with large lumber. Worth every penny...
