Sure, you could make your own out feed table, but the 7463 is designed specifically for the saw and attaches from the box in about 5 minutes with a couple of wing nuts on the rear fence support. The 2 rear legs are sufficiently sturdy and height adjustments are easy to make to compensate for what most of us have to deal with in uneven garage floors. The miter slot was routed in perfect alignment with the saw table slot and the top material matches the 52" fence side extension table. Dewalt should consider offering this in a wider model but for most of your outfeed needs it works fine.

This is a pricey accessory for the DeWalt DW746 table saw that can be omitted. I was disappointed in the cumbersome and awkward installation. This outfeed table needs to be redesigned with a more quick and easy attachment method. DeWalt should consider offering a wider version of the outfeed table that matches the full width of the tabletop with extension wings. Although disappointed with this product, I ended up keeping it and cannibalizing the hardware to build my own custom outfeed table.

This is a well made product that works extremely well with the DW746 saw. If you buy the outfeed table new with the saw, setup takes only a few minutes. If you already have setup the DW746 then installation will take a little longer as you need to loosen the rear fence rail to fit the brackets for the outfeed table. I strongly reccomend that you buy this table at the same time that you buy the saw. Once the brackets are installed on your table saw, setup of the outfeed table is a breeze. The table is very sturdy.

As noted in other reviews, you could build your own outfeed table, but I think this is a better deal. After factoring in my time, the ease of use of this table, and the cost of materials I was money ahead by buying the table rather than building one. Besides, I'd rather be building furniture than shop jigs.

My only complaints are that the plastic coating on the leading edge of the outfeed table is showing some scoring after only a couple of months of use. I noticed the scoring after cutting melamine, but I feel it would have happened no matter what material I was cutting. It just may have taken a little longer to notice if I'd been cutting a softer material like pine. I also wish the table was a little wider.

One hint, when installing the brackets on the back of the table saw there is some play. Install them as low as possible so that you will have extra room to get the connecting carriage bolts in and out easier. I learned this the hard way. I originally installed the brackets high and this game me little room to get the carriage bolts connected. The lower position makes this task very easy.

Any basic table saw that has an outfeed table should have hinges to fold down for storage. This table has none. Spend you money on building your own.

While the fit with the rest of the saw (I have all the other options as well) is good, for the life of me, I can't figure out what DeWalt was thinking when they put the top covering on this table extension. The basic idea of an outfeed table is to support longer materials so they slide through the blade more easily and with less binding. The very first piece of rough wood I ran through the saw tore through the flimsy covering, rendering it useless. I wound up covering the top with high density plastic to get a nonbinding surface. Now the rest of the covering is detaching from the table, so I will have to replace the surface again. My recommendation: if you buy this, plan on immediately resolving the issue with the top or you will regret it later.

Quality.Easy to set up and disconnect.Subtracted a star only because of the price.If you have the room,make your own.If you don't have much room,it's convienent,durable and folds away.

Your outfeed table should be at least as large as the main table of the saw. This one seems quite small to me. Also it takes up floor space and only serves one purpose. I built an outfeed table a little wider than the table of the saw, with storage below, and a router table insert built in to the top. Makes more sense in a small shop where you have to optimize the use of all your space. I used 3/4 in plywood for a subbase and covered it with 1/4 hardboard. When the hardboard gets messed up (glue, dings and dents) its easy to unscrew that piece and replace it with a new one. Cheap too, I figure I have about $50 in the table and an hour of my time. Can't recommend this extension table.

I have owned a Dewalt table saw with this extension for 4 years. The fibre board surface curved and sagged even with the steel stiffener underneath resulting in the workpiece only being supported partially. The leg is flimsy and can move in and out making the top surface move up and down. Not a design for the long run.
