Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The 12 amp 6-1/2-inch TrackSaw delivers table saw precision, panel saw capacity, and hand saw portability. The zero-clearance track system and dual anti-splinter edges ensure perfectly straight, splinter-free cuts. The specially designed transmission and precision-ground, laser-cut woodworking blade minimize deflection to deliver a finished edge, just like a table saw. Make any cut, anywhere, at any angle, even bevel or inside plunge cuts, as easily as connecting the dots. Attach a vacuum and up to 90% of the dust gets collected to minimize clean up.

Product Description

A great choice for finish carpenters, woodworkers, and contractors looking for a portable tool to make straight, splinter-free, precise cuts, the DEWALT DWS520K Track Saw combines the precision and cut-quality of a table saw, the capacity of a panel saw, and the portability of a circular saw.

Straight, Precise Cuts

The DWS520K TrackSaw travels along an anti-slip aluminum track, enabling you to make clean, straight and precise cuts (track not included). The zero-clearance track features anti-splinter edges indicating the exact cut location, so cut positioning is fast, intuitive, predictable, and accurate. The track's underside has two friction strips to "grab" the material -- keeping the track from moving without the need for additional clamping. The top side of the track has four low-friction glide strips, enabling the saw to smoothly travel along the track. Tracks are available in several lengths. All wear components are user-replaceable.

Power, Convenience, and Versatility

The DWS520K features a DEWALT-built, 1,300 watt motor, providing enough power to cut though hardwoods, and all common woodworking and construction materials. The straight plunge mechanism enables the user to make clean, straight, and splinter-free inside (plunge) cuts. A continuous anti-kick-back feature can be engaged as well, providing additional control by only allowing the saw to move in a forward direction on the track and thus preventing kickback.

For use with TrackSaw dual-edged tracks (track not included; view larger).

The DWS520K also has a dust management system with a universal 1-1/4-inch dust port that collects up to 90 percent of excess dust and debris. A 6-1/2-inch, 48-tooth woodworking blade with a laser cut plate and precision ground teeth provides exceptional cut quality. You'll be able to cut at a 2-1/8-inch depth at a 90-degree bevel and 1-5/8 inches at a 45-degree bevel, enabling you to cut through a variety of common materials. The DWS520K is great for:

  • Ripping, crosscutting and mitering sheet goods
  • Truing/edge joining
  • Inlay cut outs and hardwood flooring
  • Cutting cabinet openings, inside plunge cuts
  • Door trimming on the hinges
  • Cutting multiple-pieces at once (gang cutting)

I've found it makes cutting sheet goods for cabinet boxes so much easier than using a table saw.
Kevin J. Post
I readjusted the air cleaner attachment in relation to the rods that secure the router to the track outrigger, and all was good.
Marc I. Berrenson
The pros are incredible - nice clean cuts that are easy to eyeball vs measure using the track edge.

I have been woodworking for a long time. I've always struggled with breaking down plywood using my cabinet saw. I usually work alone and lack sufficient space for out-feed accessory tables, etc. When I do ask for help from my family while cutting sheet goods, there is usually an issue resulting in a bad cut.

I was skeptical a 6 1/2 blade on a circular saw could produce an acceptable quality cut. I was wrong. The saw is terrific breaking down sheet goods. It has lots of power and makes terrific cuts. I bought a sheet of 1.5" insulation board to use as a sacrificial surface. I lay the plywood on it and make my cuts. It's easy, quick and accurate.

The other use is to put a straight edge on rough hardwood lumber. I built a jig so I could do this on the table saw but the track saw handles this so much more easily.

Out of the box: The saw is solid and well-made. The instructions were a bit disjointed. There was an odd booklet attached to the saw handle that was presumably intended as a quick start guide. It had no text, only illustrations. The initial set up involves tightening the saw guides to remove any wiggle between the base of the saw and the track. Next, you start the saw and run down the track to trim the rubber strip that acts as a zero clearance insert would on a table saw to prevent splintering. It also trims the track to the exact line of the saw cut. That's it! It took about two minutes. I ended up watching a YouTube video to learn the setup process because DeWalt tried to make the documentation too simple for a simple guy like me to decipher.

I love the saw. The plunge mechanism is like 'buttah'. I purchased two sections of track and the accessory required to join them. This is a $20 accessory not included with the saw or track.

Wow this is an awesome saw. We used it on all most everything we would think of. I would suggest getting at least 8' of track for plywood. Very easy to set up and use. The plunge system is very nice and you can change a blade in snap. We cut a lot of different material and the TrackSaw never left a rough edge, very smooth. Highly recommended.

Bought this tool through Amazon from ToolKing.com as a reconditioned tool. It arrived in very short order and if I hadn't ordered it my self I would believe it to be brand new. It came with a new blade and included the storage box. I had to buy the tracks separately but that was expected. Also by buying the reconditioned tool I saved enough to buy 2 tracks, a 46" and a 59". That way when cutting shorter stock I don't have the cumbersome 102" track to deal with. I also got the track connector so I can use it for long cuts.
I have only done cuts for the setup and some test cuts in scrap plywood I had but from that I can say I wish I had one of these years ago. It is so much easier and far safer than manhandling full sheets of plywood on my table saw. The cuts are virtually splinter free and with my shop vac hooked up to it I can make cuts in my living room with hardly a bit of sawdust.
Love it and recommend it to anyone needing a safer and cleaner way to accurately cut plywood or any other material.

considered the festool and the makita. At the time, didn't know about the euro models, which at this time are still not available locally. I LOVE THIS TOOL. It works just as I thought it would. The thing I like the most is not to have to compute for the offset. Just line up the rubber edge with the cut line and there it is! I initially tried the router attachment and was very disappointed. I completely ruined the table top for a media center I was building for my brother. But, all was not lost... I figured out what I had done wrong. I readjusted the air cleaner attachment in relation to the rods that secure the router to the track outrigger, and all was good. This is a very good and very reasonably priced tool. I have not used the Festool or the Makita. Nor have I used the Bosch , which is available in Europe and looks very interesting, ( I am a Bosch fan),. But, for the money, this is excellent. Would highly recommend.

This system really worked for a one man operation. I esp like the saw, I put a styrofoam under the 4x8 sheet of melamine adjusted the height of the cut to just barely cut into the underlayment, follow the track and wala perfect cut the 8' direction. Couldn't ask for better
