I'm a serious DIY'er, not a contractor - but if I were a contractor, this would be one of the first tools I'd buy. I've only had it for a couple of weeks and used it on a couple of projects so far (mainly building 32' of new porch railings including turned balusters, etc.), but it has turned much of the drudgery of a project into sheer joy. It has easily cut project time by a third when compared to having the saw on the ground. My 50 year old knees and back have never appreciated a new tool so much.

Assembly wasn't particularly quick, because I took my time, greased the axles (not specified in the manual), took care to be sure everything was aligned properly, etc. So for me it took a solid hour to complete. It didn't help that the manual left out a couple of important points, so I had to disassemble a couple of things and re-do them. Once done, this stand/cart is solid, sturdy, reliable, and inspires confidence. It *is* important to follow the assembly instructions carefully; not all steps are obvious.

Unlike other reviewers, I love the easy-rolling rollers; when I have a series of cuts in rapid order, they help me keep moving with less effort. If you're looking for a length stop, simply raise the applicable roller assembly about an inch, and the surface just below the roller itself makes for a perfect stop - so it's the best of both worlds.

The tires are solid rubber (so no maintenance needed), but they're not rock-hard; the rubber is just soft enough to give the stand/saw a little cushion when rolling over the edges of concrete, etc. Fit & finish are excellent.

Since nearly every component of this stand is steel, it's heavy. But the tradeoff is that it's very rigid and reliable.

First - let me say that this stand is not all that bad but it could use some work. I purposely got this stand for its portability and the fact that the miter saw could stay on the stand. Like some other reviews - the set up is a little challenging but not to bad at all.

Here is the positive - it truly is portable and I really do enjoy how easy it is to set up. It's easy to raise, lower and move. It also stores pretty well in an upright configuration. I got it due to me moving from job site to job site and I thought it would be handy in that sense - and it is. I might replace the plastic wheels with pneumatic tires but not too bad.

Now the negative - The stabilization rollers and their corresponding arms are less than ideal. Sure, the rollers work ok but it's challenging to get the correct height set up with different material weight. Also - the plastic nuts on the bottom of the rollers (you have to tighten them to secure the height of the roller)stripped out at the first job site. Let me give you an example - If you are cutting the same weight material while fully extended you should be okay but if you switch from say a 2x4 to a 6x6 the height will change - you will need to fiddle with the plastic nut and change the height of the roller - and move on. Also - I like having the extension arms "fit" back in under the saw however it can become challenging if they aren't perfectly aligned as 1 fits into the other. Also - the extension arms actually bent when I cut a 6x6.

If you are a handy homeowner or someone that only cuts lightweight trim then you should be ok. Just keep in mind that this saw was not designed to be used for heavy weight material. It needs more support for the extension arms when fully extended.

Well worth the money. I replaced my original stationary miter stand with this stand. I actually don't dread pulling out the miter saw (and the table saw... different review) like before. Plus it has made it simple to put up the saws at the end of the day or when the job is done. This and the table saw stand has been a great compliment. I don't know who came to market with the design first but I'm glad dewalt now offers rolling stands.

The miter stand specifically is well made has nice adjustments. Assembly was easy and straight forward. The wheels are cheap but work fine. A couple of issues I've had is where you wrap the electrical cord on the back. Be aware how you collapse the stand for rolling away. I collapsed the stand on the cord and now it's messed up. Works fine but just be aware. Also I did like how my stationary stand has stops on the material supports. I could adjust the stops and make the same cut over and over without measuring each piece. I have been able to do this on this stand by raising the roller high enough, but the stationary stand "cupped" it and your piece wasn't cantilevered.

I finally replaced my old stand for one with wheels that can be transported easily. The fit and finish is excellent and it comes very well packed. The instructions are horrible and you are far better to throw them out and just start assembling. The function is excellent. It raises and lowers very smoothly. It also seems very stable in both the stand and dolly configurations. My only complaint is that the extensions don't extend very far, by comparison to my old stand, and the overall height of the saw is made for an Umpa Lumpa. I'm 6-2 and this thing makes me really squat down for precision cuts. I would kill for this thing to be about 8 inches taller. I really like it, but it's not very ergonomic for us tall people.
