5.0 out of 5 stars suprisingly capable
I've got a few years of dragging crates of records from party to party under my belt so I truly expected to be underwhelmed by this software. I came into this looking for software that allowed me to do the basics, just start a song and fade it into the one before it, with some ability to control speed. Even as I read the box and all of it's features I expected that they...

This software no longer works!

An automatic update will occur with the message "This Home Edition of Virtual Dj is counterfiet, return to the store of purchased and ask for refund."

The website for Virtual DJ states
"eJay DJMixStation is the old name of VirtualDJ HomeEdition.

Unfortunately, the company owning the eJay brand, Empire Interactive, has decided to go rogue and continues to sell this software without paying any royalties for it.

Of course, legal actions are on their way to make them stop and shut this down.

Still, if you are in possession of a copy of any eJay DJMixStation, we recommend that you return it and get a refund, on the basis that this product is a counterfeit, and will definitely not be supported and will probably stop to work in the future."

I purchased the software Oct 10th 2007, so I am contacting Amazon now to see if I can still return it.

5.0 out of 5 stars suprisingly capable, December 27, 2006

I've got a few years of dragging crates of records from party to party under my belt so I truly expected to be underwhelmed by this software. I came into this looking for software that allowed me to do the basics, just start a song and fade it into the one before it, with some ability to control speed. Even as I read the box and all of it's features I expected that they were going to be overly complicated and not natural feeling, as I've said I had DJ'd before. Boy was I suprised. About 10 seconds after loading the program I was mixing. I went from DJ Clueless to DJ Clue in about a half hour. This thing is nice, it gives you 12 linear samples as well as looped that you can load right from your music, it has an amazingly accurate beat clock and if its wrong you can just tap in the beat, it loads the songs very quickly which was great, for example I took one MP3 and loaded it onto one table and started it and the same song on the other, started the second within four beats of the first one and played around with them for about 15 minutes. another great feature is that it has four cue points per turntabe. for example there is a break or beat in a song that you want to go back to you just tap that cue in on beat and you have just extended the song. I would not recomend trying to use this for scatching that is a very touch sensative operation, and seeing as you have to use a mouse it is a little tricky. And I also have not figured out how to cut (a demandedly two handed operation) but I'm sure I will. Let's just say I'm a fan and I only had the software for 12 hours. I may be going back for more of their software. eJay forever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Make Sure Its What You Need., May 14, 2007

This Software looks great. The only problems I have with it is: 1-It will not work with i-tunes. If your music files are in i-tunes forget it. They will not import to mixstation. They will tell you a couple of differnt ways to get these files to convert, but none have worked 100%. 2- No tech support: the only access you have to any kind of support is a bulletin board where you have to wait for some one to answer your question. As far as operating the software it seems to be o.k. If I could just get my i-tunes libary imported!!!!!! I have a Friend who is a House D.J. at a very large club who is running the pro version, that is AWESOME!! Hope this review helps you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great @ first, but has now stopped working!!, December 11, 2007
This review is from: DJ Mixstation 3 (CD-ROM)
I have to say, initially, I loved this product. It was easy to use and just plain fun. Most friday nights, I would come home, hook my laptop up to external speakers w/ a woofer, get some snacks and start DJ'ing the night away! It has a great beatlock feature along with several looping samples you can create. Also, my favorite was doing the 8 count, which helps to extend a song and bring in a new song on top. I mean, it was the perfect program....until 2 days ago.

2 days ago, I tried to access the program, but it told me my version was a counterfeit, although I knew it wasn't. Heck I purchased it here on Amazon. Anyway, there's some junk going on w/ the company, so our home version of the program don't work and I am ticked!!!

So right now, this is not a good buy!!

3.0 out of 5 stars First Impressions of a novice, March 29, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DJ Mixstation 3 (CD-ROM)
First impression: eh.
Yes, it does all the things it advertises. As you get used to the interface it does show potential.
The manual is sub-par. Help files are not too helpful. This is marketed to beginners - there should be better information.

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, October 5, 2007
This review is from: DJ Mixstation 3 (CD-ROM)
This product is a pretty good buy. It's definitely worth the 30 bucks and it's very user friendly. The only small problem with it is some of the minor things like playlist and things aren't as user friendly but aside from that it's been doing a great job and I'm definitely enjoying it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, October 2, 2007
This review is from: DJ Mixstation 3 (CD-ROM)
This is the best DJ program out right now, no matter what kind of music you listen to, it all can be mixed with this program. You can blend songs together no matter what genre and you can use samples from other songs and put them in your song. I like chopped and screwed music and this is the best program to use for them besides actual turntables. You can use them with your itunes also, just drag and drop from your library [unless their from your ipod] and start mixing, i do it all of the time so it can be done. Just know that you wont be dissatisfied with this program.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't pleased, March 8, 2007
This review is from: DJ Mixstation 3 (CD-ROM)
I was not pleased with this product at all, in fact I returned it to Amazon! Amazon was great about it, too! When I read the product description I thought it was going to be exactly what I had been looking for, and when I got the product, it did not do what I thought it would by the description. I'd say, if you are a regular person like me looking for a software to use for burning cd's of your own music that you have downloaded and mixed, don't go with this, go with the MixMeister, that's what I ended up getting and LOVE it!! I gave this product 2 stars because it is actually pretty interesting to use, but has a lot of things on it that the average person that doesn't do djaying wouldn't know what to do with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Strictly for DJs, April 10, 2007
This review is from: DJ Mixstation 3 (CD-ROM)
Item received in brand new condition. No complaints about condition of item, but I am not a DJ nor am I trying to be. I'm still learning how to use system in order to mix soundfiles. Directions in manual not useful at all, you must learn through trial and error process or through others who are experienced in using program.
