3.0 out of 5 stars Rough Weave and Wrinkles
The weave on these napkins is course so they a rough hand to them. Hopefully they will soften a bit as they get washed. They are also prone to wrinkling, and have to be ironed if you want them to look crisp.

The are not bad for every day use and are a good way to reduce garbage generated by paper napkins.

I wish that they were a finer weave and...

Very coarse and unpleasant to the touch, the napkins wrinkle badly and are hard to iron.

4.0 out of 5 stars Going green, May 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We wanted to get away from paper napkins and so much waste so we decided to get cloth napkins. After doing research I decided that 100% cotton was the way to go and these cloth napkins seemed to fit the bill from the item description. I wasn't prepared for how they would come out of the wash. Normally with something like this I would wash with towels and therefore no fabric softener and then into the dryer. I've had to modify that! The wrinkling was awful and I ironed all 16 of my new napkins ONCE! Then I found that if I washed them with the other things that I used fabric softener on AND shook them out and hung them on the line to dry they are suitable to fold and put away without ironing.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT....they are well made, meet my desire to be more green and it feels like a little bit of luxury to be using cloth napkins exclusively now. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Acceptable is my best description. One of the napkins was soiled with I am not yet sure what but hopefully it will come out when washed. My biggest disappointment was that two of the napkins were not square and yet they had been hemmed as if they were. I know that you get what you pay for and I am not that picky, but I will be hesitant to buy that brand of napkins again. I should also add though that the DII placematsthat I ordered were lovely in every way. I believe my problem with the napkins was an "inspection" problem and I am sure the company would want to know what I experienced. Very disappointing. I washed them once and they came out hideously wrinkled. The wrinkles could not even be ironed out. I ironed and ironed and finally gave up and threw them into the rag bag. I bought 2 packs of 4 and they weren't the same color. Unless you need wrinkly rags, DON'T BUY.
