I live alone, have a full time job, some semblance of a social life, and I need to not be doing dishes all the time. But I don't have a dishwasher. I bought these after getting fed up with spending forever on washing dishes by hand, just to have them have water drop spots afterward. I needed something better to dry my dishes with, and actually spent a good amount of time searching for a dishtowel on amazon that seemed to fit the bill. While these are handy for setting drying dishes on, they have some kind of water-resistant coating on them which is exactly the opposite of what you'd want in a dish drying towel. The water just smears around and doesn't get picked up by the towel. Same thing when you try to dry your hands with these. If you're looking for a dish towel that does something besides shout "fiesta" in your kitchen, look somewhere else.

These towels are nice and big but you need to wash them first before use. They have a coating on them so they won't sop up water until you do that. After they are fine and I would buy more. We also purchased the hand towels and did the same with them. They do shrink after drying in the clothes dryer but still perfect for washing.
