This is the latest technology when it comes to satellite antennas and it really works good. Here's the deal about this antenna. It can look at five (5) satellites at the same time and it only needs one RG6 coax cable.. so you only need to poke one small hole in the wall; or buy a flat section of RG6 and run it under a door or through a window. I have seen it at solidsignal.com.

The big deal is always dish location and aiming, and this is where having it installed by Directv can really payoff. You need to be able to "see" the five satellites that are basically over Mexico City and they are twenty degrees apart from the 99 sat to the 119 sat. Also you do not want to put holes in your roof with the gigantic foot plate screws that come with the dish assembly. Look for a way to stick it on the side of the house. Note that this SWM (singel wire module) antenna has a separate $20 120v wall power supply that you need buy. Also note that you must have a grounding block for the coax line and a ground for the antenna. The good news is that (with the in-line power supply) you can have a very long coax, 150 feet or so, running between the antenna and the receiver.

Aiming this sucker is something else. With good reason everyone will tell you to buy a signal meter. Well they cost about $200 and once you learn how it works and then peak the antenna signal what do you do with it? The alternative is to use you TV and the satellite meter that comes with the Directv receiver . FYI The new HR24 HDTV receiver/recorder ($200)is absolutely magnificent.
Anyway you can use the TV to aim and fine tune the antenna. It was a very difficult and time consuming process... but I did it, so it can be done. The receivers set-up screen(s) will tell you what setting to use for the antenna based on your zip code. The trick is that you need a boy scout type compass (the kind with a mirror) to find the 101 satellite and a set of 2-way radios plus someone to tell you what the TV signal meter is doing while you crank the aiming screws back and forth. For aiming use the 101 and 119 Ku satellites and odd numbered transponders. And be happy if you can get an 85 reading out of the 99 and 103 Ka satellites.
The basic trick is making sure that the antenna mast is plumb. Its easy as the antenna assembly comes with a removable bubble level that sits on the top of the mast. You also need to buy and install a $10 set of antenna support arms to keep the mast level and the dish aimed correctly during high winds.

The only time you need five satellites is when you want to get local channels as well as regular Directv channels. Don't want locals buy a Directv three LNB dish assembly. First of all if you plan to install this dish yourself get on the internet to download how to do it info. Look at YouTube and solidsignal.com. and satguys.com. Some places charge more then others but it makes no difference who you get this Directv dish from, just expect a large box. It's a Directv professional installers packaged so you may not find a parts list or assembly instruction inside. Its obvious and easy to assemble the dish.
Last but not least. For tailgating or camping I have to think that its not worth the hassle to level and set-up a 5LNB SWM dish on a tripod just to get HDTV. An 18-inch one LNB on a tripod or RV roof and standard definition channels from the 101 satellite still looks very good on a small TV.

Product arrived on time. You'll need to find instructions on the web to install and do fine alignment. Satellite finder is an absolute must, also make sure receiver is on 101 satellite so that the satellite finder peaks on the center of DTV's satellite array. Once aligned, it worked great.

Why 4 stars - They forgot to include 4 1/4-20 x 1/2 bolts that attach the lnb arm to the antenna mount, and I had to make a trip to the hdw store to finish the assembly.
