3.0 out of 5 stars Not as high quality as the 100 disk storage system
I had a 100 disc selector and expected the same quality with this one - but the system is not as high quality. Good value for the price, but not as good as the 100 disc selector.

Love this!!! Just the right item for my need. Right size, color, shape and style, and most of all right function and ease of use. I was able to take all my CD's out of their plastic cases, and organized them in this presentable case. I wrote down all their corresponding titles on the pullout sheet. Its so easy to locate the CD I want to play just move the button on the corresponding number and then lift the case cover and the right CD is lifted up. Its so neat. Then when you are done. Just drop the disc in the empty slot where you got it from, and you're done. You're back to being organized which is really the idea why I bought it in the first place.
I plan to buy one more for my movies and home made videos. Oh another thing, VERY IMPORTANT, a tip I came up with is to make a copy of the pullout sheet before I wrote my song titles on the sheet so if I want to remove add or change the arrangement of my CDs I can also change the numberings of the song titles on the sheet. So make a few copies of it for future use.
There are also the 100 and 120 disc cases but believe me 80 is more than enough. I thought I could fill mine up but I found out I have about 60 CDs total. So I have more space for future purchases. There's a considerable difference in the cost. So it's something to consider before buying this item.

3.0 out of 5 stars okay for the price, September 1, 2009
This review is from: DISCGEAR SELECTR 80S 2-TN BLACK/GREY (Office Product)
I have a couple of the 120-Disc systems and love them. Was looking for something to organize software/office type CD's/DVD's, and decided on the 80-disc vs. the 50-disc given the pricing. This isn't Discgear's greatest model, but it'll work for the intended purpose. In hindsight, wish I'd just purchased the 50-disc model - think it's more the quality I was expecting. The biggest drawback on this model is that it does not lock.

no locking device for container. which hinders transport of discs one wrong move and they all spill out. please try to manufactur some type of after market product to lock case, mabey using the end side walls. drill hole and alow for insertion of locking key. otherwise great product but extremely poor design, sorry i bought 2. the romdex devices were better but you cant find them anymore and they locked

Not the greatest though. The lid flops open instead of having any sort of latch. the slider sticks easily. the drawer for the catalog just slides out whenever you move the thing. It does select the disks when you get the slider on a slot, and it does store them safely and compactly, but it could be better constructed. I got this one, and the 100-disc one shaped like a box, and same issue with both.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still a good product but not as good as the ones they made a few years ago, January 28, 2011

I ordered this product because I own another one that I purchased a few years ago and it is almost filled completely up. This new one it not as nice as the ones this same company made a couple of years ago. The older ones had springs in them so that the menu and the top of the disc selector operated and opened at the push of a button whereas with the new ones you have to do everything yourself. You have to lift up the top and hold it up while you get the disc out which can be kind of cumbersome. I recommend looking at other brands to find ones that do have the spring assist. It sounds small, but makes a huge difference.

This is an awesome invention. I got it for my boyfriend, who seems to have tons of DVDs and CDs with no cases. They're piled up on the floor and his dresser and getting scratched up, hideous, and unusable. I ordered it on 11/30/10 and received it on 12/3/10. Awesome timing from the seller (eek Technology). I tested it with a few of my own CDs. My only gripe is that I initially thought that it would work by sliding the button/slider thing to the correct #, then hitting the button to automatically open the case and lift out the CD. Instead, I push/hold/slide the button to the #, then open the case (there's no handle or any obvious way to open it), and ta da! There the CD is. I still love it, even though it's not as automated as I thought it was. I will probably purchase another one for myself soon. :)

Product well made. Everything I expected it to be.This is an amazingly nice case for such an inexpensive price though it does hold a lot of discs. The quality seems ok, though because it's so large, it seems flimsy.I highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to get rid of the clutter of CD discs, May 2, 2009

This review is from: DISCGEAR SELECTR 80S 2-TN BLACK/GREY (Office Product)
I ordered this because I have so many back-up and other CD's and DVD's sitting around on my desk, on shelves and in boxes where I can never find them when I need them. This inexpensive little organizer is a great way to keep track of all these discs and it does it in a small space. It works exactly as advertised.

I'm still working on finding all of the CD's I have lying around and cataloging them, but it's pretty easy to do using the software from their website to organize them and then printing it out as needed. It's free and easy to use.

The only drawback is that you can't use the CD cases, but most of the things that I want to organize don't have cases anyway. And for those that do, I have an extra box that I use to store them. This is working very well so far.
