3.0 out of 5 stars good, but could still be designed a little better
Works well for it's purpose, but DVDs can slip out through the side. I would buy it again only because I have not found anything similar in features.

Several years ago I was looking for a higher density storage system for the 1,800+ DVDs that I had amassed. Storage space was becoming critical. I happened to come across these storage sleeves in a random Google search. The actual manufacturer produces (or at least did offer at one time) a three drawer wood storage cabinet with 500 free sleeves, which I purchased. The original sleeves were a polished vinyl, and were problematic. They provided good, high-density storage, but they would stick to each other, and they tended to curl somewhat on the edges. This made the act of searching for a particular movie annoying.

However, the recent change to the Poly-Sleeve has my vote as the perfect DVD high-density storage medium. It even holds the dreaded snapcase DVDs (think Warner Bros). It is surprisingly light yet strong. The sticky quality is gone - these sleeves are very slick, so that storing them in the plastic optional racks doesn't create a problem. I have since sold a very large portion of my DVDs to convert to Blu-Ray, but I still have approximately 500 DVDs that I store exclusively in the DiscSox sleeves.

Expensive? It depends on your point of view. I once had boxes full of DVDs in their original cases that I had to move from one house to another. These sleeves would have saved me space, time, and money because they are light, compact, take up very little space, and are easily organized. Try 'em, you'll like 'em!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great storage solution for DVDs, March 17, 2010
This review is from: DISCSOX DVD PRO POLY DVD SLEEVES, 25PK (Electronics)
These DVD sleeves are well made and very durable. They're also made of archival quality polypropylene, the material of choice for long-term storage (and fully recyclable). Yes, they're expensive, but there is nothing comparable on the market, believe me I've looked. The only thing close is the vinyl DVD sleeves (with a polypropylene pocket and Tyvek backing for the disc) from [...], also a good product. But the DiscSox sleeves are higher quality, and they are also slightly thinner and weigh slightly less. Weight might not seem like a big issue, but if you're talking about hundreds of movies, the weight of each sleeve can make a difference. And their service is second to none. It is clearly a small company that takes customer service very seriously. I usually don't review products, but people have been slamming these for being too expensive. Are they too expensive if nothing similar is available? If there was more demand, I'm sure they would be cheaper, but there isn't the critical mass necessary to push down the price. And if you buy a storage kit that includes a tray for the sleeves, the price is much more reasonable. (You basically get the tray for free.) This is an excellent product from a great company. Stop giving it one star because you don't like the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Discsox Rule!, June 30, 2010
This review is from: DISCSOX DVD PRO POLY DVD SLEEVES, 25PK (Electronics)
I have been a Discsox customer for years and have both the vinyl and polyproplene.
In response to other reviews about the switch from vinyl to polyproplene I have to say I was very please that the compnay finally made the switch. Vinyl is a toxic material and frankly, is banned for use in some countries. Regarding costs of the sleeves. If the company wanted to make money why did they lower the price of their DVD Pro sleeves from $26.95 to $22.95. Also as another customer said if you purchase a "Kit" you basically get the DVD Pro Snap Fit Tray for "FREE" Lastly the vinyl sleeves weighed
twice as much as the polyproplene sleeves which increased the costs of shipping dramatically. There are always going to be people that do not like changes. But for this customer I am certainly glad they did!!

After reading the variety of positive and negative reviews, I decided to order this product anyway. The sleeves are great! I am ordering another pack. Considering the only bad complaint is the price [and the star rating is supposed to be based on the product quality, not the cost] there is no reason for this product to get anything less than 5 stars. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Solution, November 27, 2011

DiscSox is a great solution to a growing problem I had. Where to store my movies. I tried putting them in binders with equally expensive pages, but not only did they stop making them, but re-organizing the pages in the binders was time consuming. These are great and better than the clear plastic sleeves made by Atlantic that you can also buy on Amazon. Discsox sleeves are a little more expensive, but they have some advantages. They are more substantial in support for the disc. They are made of polypropylene which is better for archival goals. They are designed to accomodate larger or thicker covers. You don't have to buy discsox trays because they fit perfectly into plastic containers (Sterlite) that you can buy at Walmart very cheaply. Easy to flip through. Easy to organize. Easy to maintain as your collection grows.

$1 a piece plus shipping! For such a good product, one can only imagine how far many more would be sold if they were more reasonably priced. And the fact that Amazon doesn't carry them themselves--meaning I have to pay another $5 for shipping from Cyberguys--means they end up not being worth the expense. Better to buy slim DVD cases for 20 cents.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the solution, price could be better, September 6, 2010

I've been looking for something to compress the shelf space of our DVD collection. I've looked at a few solutions and decided to give DiscSox DVD Pro a test. Overall, I'm very happy with the solution. Keeping 2 DVDs in a sleeve along with the box art and an insert is fantastic and much better (IMHO) than throwing all of that out and using a CD type of solution. The build quality seems good (I've only had these for a month). None of the 25 were damaged and they took the mild use/abuse of stuffing in the package artwork into the sleeve well. I never owned the older version (Vinyl) and so can't speak to relative quality, but I have no gripes about the current material.

Some "cons" to note
1) Price. If the price was cut in half, I'd buy them for my entire collection. As it is, only a few will get moved.
2) I really wish these had holes to put into a ringed binder
3) They don't take heavy "cardboard" covers well. And in general, you need to "work the paper" to make these sit flat (when you insert the box art, the "binding edge" needs to fold one way or the other and the crease on the other edge won't sit flat naturally.

Pros are that they work. And work really well. Pros vastly outnumber the cons. If they had holes for a binder at the same price, I'd be 100% sold.

1.0 out of 5 stars Manufacturer changed product, March 15, 2009
This review is from: DISCSOX DVD PRO POLY DVD SLEEVES, 25PK (Electronics)
We bought this product last year, however when we tried to re-order the same product later during the year, manufacturer changed the quality...completely! We were so disappointed that we returned our order and have not found anything comparable to it (although the Disney Movie Club has something similar). Plastic was very flimsy and black mat was so thin, that to pay the same amount of money for this new DiscSox, was a joke. These are not worth the money. They need to go back to the original DiscSox!
