Book Description

March 1, 2002

Who was Max Ryker? The sinfully sensual P.I. had the looks of a playboy and the bearing of a king. Bounty hunter Cara Rivers could only dream of being Cinderella for a night in Max's strong arms. Because she and Max were hunting the same man--and that made Max the enemy.

Duke Maximillian Ryker Sebastiani shunned his title. But Max had a duty to his king. Even the spirited beauty who challenged his every move couldn't keep Max from bringing the bail jumper back to the kingdom of Montebello. Not even if she was the one woman to stir the secret royal's restless heart...

2.0 out of 5 stars not what i expected...could have been better, July 29, 2006
This review is from: THE DISENCHANTED DUKE - ROMANCING THE CROWN (Harlequin Romantic Suspense # 1136) (Paperback)
I was so psyched about reading this novel back in '2003' and as a result I was disappointed. A great adventurous romantic story about Cara and Maximillian, a duke who refuses to accept his title. Unfortunately, the plot itself was quite predictable and the love scenes were too tame and edited lacking in emotional expression.

2.0 out of 5 stars Rhymes with witch..., May 27, 2002
This review is from: THE DISENCHANTED DUKE - ROMANCING THE CROWN (Harlequin Romantic Suspense # 1136) (Paperback)
Help! Editor needed! The unsinkable Ms. Ferrarella has run amok and needs a guiding hand. Or perhaps needs to listen to one. Her usual fast pace and quick repartee are overshadowed by a lack of credibility and a heroine who is at best a b-you-know-what, and at worst a criminal. This fun spy vs. spy-or rather, bounty hunter vs. bounty hunter-plotline should be a fun, humorous read, but instead is a wall-slapper that engenders frustration. The tall, dark, and brooding hero is made to look foolish half the time by his leading lady, and the heroine-well, if a man drugged a woman, left her alone in a strange place, and stole her possessions, we all know where we'd house him once we caught him. Although Ms. Ferrarella leaves plenty of room for this heroine to grow and does include a rather typical, tear-jerker motive for her, it's not enough justification for the heroine's appalling actions. That said, Ms. Ferrarella does have a way with dialogue and pace. She consistently keeps romantic conflict in the forefront of her stories through to the finale, and I will read her again.
