Still have to pay DVR fees January 20, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
When Dish increased their fees for a 2nd DVR to $14 a month I returned my leased DVR to them. I thought that by buying a DVR I would eliminate those fees but NOT SO. In order to activate the purchased DVR I had to contact DISH and was told I would have to pay $14 a month for the 2nd DVR even though I purchased it. I thought the $14 was for leasing the equipment but it is apparently for sending the signal to that receiver. I have used a leased DuoDVR 625 for 4 years and love it but am really disappointed that purchasing one doesn't save any money over leasing the equipment.

Excellent service in delivery and price. This was a re-manufactured unit, has very minor indistinguishable marks comes with 2 remotes - IR / RF great overall value with free shipping! If I could get a brand new unit for the same price I would have given it 5 Stars!

I am using the Dish Duo 625 DVR with a single TV in dual mode so I use the PIP feature quite a lot. The unit fulfills my objective of replacing an old single tuner receiver with something more current, but with a minimum cost outlay. I did not need to get the HD version the VP722 which I originally looked at since the international programming I receive is not in HD anyway.

On top of the dual tuners I get the added benefit of getting a DVR to use if I want to. Lastly, if I want I can put the unit in single mode and watch two separate channels in different TVs if needed.
