Loved watching ESPNHD from Dish Network. When my local channels started broadcasting in HD, I was excited to learn this receiver doubled as an off-air HD tuner. Worked great...just upgraded to a dvr. Unit can't be sandwiched between two other entertainment center components, as it will overheat. I had to reset it a couple of times (hold down power button for 5 seconds) until I figured out it needed a few inches to breathe. Never had to reset it again after that. Sports in HD...you'll never be the same!!

Aparently this receiver is too complicated for the installer. He hooked HD outputs into my TV's standard inputs. Then he left the programming at it's default of standard definition so there was no way I could receive HD programming. Because I'm the type of person who doesn't blame others before I can exclude my own responsibility it took me awhile to understand the multiple problems. Additionally, the provider never started HD programming even though I signed a contract for such service. When I brought all these problems to Dish Network's attention their response was that my equipment was now obsolete and wanted to sell me a new receiver for the special price of $49 to make up for the mistakes. I checked the website and there it was for $49 to EVERYBODY, not a special just for me. Man, I hate to be lied to. On top of that they wanted me to sign up for 18 more months of crappy service if I wanted the "upgrade." They then said I could get the old programming for the new higher price but would only receive the fewer channels of the old package. WHAT AN OBSTINATE, UNETHICAL, AMORAL COMPANY...STAY AWAY!
