My son received this as a gift for his 2nd birthday. Needless to say, he is a huge CARS fan, he has tons of CARS theme items. When we opened this, I thought, "wow, this is great!" This thing is soooo lightweight and flimsy it's ridiculous. Again, its very cute but you barely lean on this thing and it tips over. Definitely not worth the full price, but if you can find it for $20.00 it's not too bad.

This is a great little toy for the Lightning McQueen fan in your life. Our 3-year old went ballistic when the box came in the mail for his birthday.

Love the little tools that he can use to attach the parts to the tool bench. Just wish there were more "working" parts to "repair" a character from the movie. He gets bored just putting nuts onto bolts.

Yes, this can make a big mess when the kid decides to dump out all the drawers - but that's kinda par for the course with any toy.

Wish the elastic was longer on the goggles. Kid loves them, but they are adjusted to the longest length and still too tight on him (he was a preemie, so his head is actually on the smaller side).

The toy was easy to set up - even with "help" from little hands. Everything snapped into place - no tools needed and thankfully no stickers to apply.

I love watching the kiddo use his fine motor skills to attach items - just wish there were more character parts so he could play a bit more with it.

I got this at Big Lots for $69 and gave it to my 3.5 year old this Christmas. It doesn't give the feeling of durability that the Black and Decker toy workbenches have, but it's not terribly flimsy either. Assembly was easy and it just uses the same plastic nuts that are part of the toy itself. I was thankful for this after being driven half mad by a Christmas morning of much harder-to-assemble toys.

One thing to point out: the directions don't mention that Lightning is designed to pop on and off the little platform. The platform has little spring-loaded clips that hold him securely but allow him to pop off the platform with a gentle tug. Unfortunately, they also decided to screw him onto the platform with four metal screws -- just remove those and your toddler can pull him on and off on their own as it was intended.

Overall this is a fun and educational toy. My son enjoys it a lot, he likes screwing things together, using the tools, and changing Lightning's tires. It teaches organization, coordination and working with tools. And it has plenty of space in the drawers to hold other stuff, like the insane number of die-cast Cars characters floating around my kid's bedroom!
