5.0 out of 5 stars More comfortable than molded masks
I have a large yard to mow and collect leaves from and also suffer outdoor allergies even if the copious amounts of dust generated by these activities wasn't a problem all by itself. The molded masks just don't work for me. They are not sized and the one-size does not fit me--too big. Plus, I wear glasses for yard work instead of contacts because of the dust, and the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Disposable EARLOOP Face MASK, Filters Bacteria 3 Ply - (Box of 50)
The mask itself was what I was looking for but the sizing was completely crazy. The ear loops would be too large for all but a giant man! I had to tie knots in each one to use them. I probably wouldn't buy this product again wihtout first finding one with small, medium and large designation.

I have a large yard to mow and collect leaves from and also suffer outdoor allergies even if the copious amounts of dust generated by these activities wasn't a problem all by itself. The molded masks just don't work for me. They are not sized and the one-size does not fit me--too big. Plus, I wear glasses for yard work instead of contacts because of the dust, and the molded masks fog them up so badly, I can't see, so I quit wearing a mask and suffered the consequences.

I began a search for an alternative and decided to try these. I'm really pleased with them. My glasses don't fog up as much, I like the ear loops better than the elastic behind my head and they aren't as hot as the molded masks.

There's a little wire inside the top so you can customize the fit around the bridge of your nose and this mask doesn't feel so confining. I feel I can breathe more freely. Also, the skin under this mask is apparently better ventilated since it doesn't get aggravated after long use as it did with the molded mask. Judging from the amount of dust sticking to the outside of the mask after use, I'd say it is doing the job well and I haven't had any allergy problems either. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work for flu, April 30, 2009

Just keep in mind that these masks don't filter viruses. So these would be useless if you wish to prevent swine flu.

5.0 out of 5 stars must have, November 21, 2007
Cold and flu season is here, again. I fly almost weekly and since I started wearing these medical masks, my health has been excellent. Avoid getting sick from flying in a Petri dish with wings due to sick babies, children and adults coughing on the plane without regard for the health of other people. People look at you funny for wearing a mask but hey, I am not the one who is going to get sick from the flight!

These masks were just what my wife needed. She is allergic to almost any type dust. These masks allow her to have a more rewarding time working in the yard with her flowers and plants. SHE IS ABOUT TO WORK ME TO DEATH! Seriously, these masks do really help her and she has stopped caughing and enjoys herself more because of them. Thank you Very, Very much. By making her life better, you have helped me too.

Rather than slapping one of these on your face, hand one to the fellow in the next aisle who's coughing. Stop the sputum at its source!

There's a funny smell that comes from it. I did air a few of them thinking that might help. But after trying a few, I threw the remaining away.

4.0 out of 5 stars A sick person can reduce germ spread by wearing these!, September 8, 2009

This review is from: DISPOSABLE EARLOOP FACE MASK BLUE 50/BX (Health and Beauty)
An article in the Washington Post Health section today suggests that transmission of flu within a family (or group of people living together) can be reduced by having the *sick person* wear a cloth mask. It minimizes the droplets that can spread the virus to others. "In a 2009 study involving sick schoolchildren in Australia, the use of soft masks reduced the risk of acquiring infection by 60 to 80 percent. Given that the soft mask does not screen all the viral droplets, I suspect some of the protection from the masks came from preventing hand-to-face contact." Of course, frequent hand-washing is still important. "In one Detroit study, schoolchildren who washed their hands four times a day had 20% fewer sick days due to respiratory illness than did students in general, and 57% fewer days lost due to upset stomachs."

Masks such as this are effective at slowing the transmission of all airborne infectious diseases. True, the filter size will let in virus particles, but virus particles are usually contained in aerosolised droplets of sputum due to coughing and sneezing, and these droplets ARE effectively caught. They will offer some protection to a healthy person, but are most effective when worn by a sick person to reduce the load of aerosolised infectious particles.

These face mask are perfect when cleaning around the house. I'm allergic to dust, spider webs & mildew. When its time to bring out the swiffer or any other dusting cloth, I put on a disposable earloop face mask & I don't mind keeping it on cause its light & comfortable. I recently cleaned out my garage which was loaded with spiders, webs & mildew. I was fine afterwards. The last time I tried to clean the garage without the mask, I ended up in the emergency room. There inexpensive & comfortable. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends & family.
