Among the problems for which Marston suggests creative solutions is dealing with husbands or wives who are "difficult"; she strongly encourages assertiveness and getting out of the victim trap. How to negotiate the seemingly endless, sticky situation of finances--including what to do about negligent child support--is also covered. Marston even interviews a number of kids from divorced families for their side of the story. Some parents may object to her insistence on eradicating the family bed; however, all in all, this is a much-needed book. It makes the task of postseparation parenting at least seem tolerable.
