5.0 out of 5 stars Best DIY wedding book! (so far)
By the time we get married, my fiance and I will have been engaged for 3 years (longer than we've been dating)! We pushed the date back in order to save money to pay for this party. Had this book been available earlier, I would have gotten married sooner with all the money I would have saved! I've purchased other DIY wedding craft books, but this is by far the best...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute ideas
This book had some cute ideas, but wasn't a must-have, in my opinion. Get it early on in the wedding-planning process. I didn't use any of the ideas in my wedding, mainly because I ran out of time and it was easier to do other things. You need to be really motivated to DIY to benefit from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best DIY wedding book! (so far), May 12, 2008

By the time we get married, my fiance and I will have been engaged for 3 years (longer than we've been dating)! We pushed the date back in order to save money to pay for this party. Had this book been available earlier, I would have gotten married sooner with all the money I would have saved! I've purchased other DIY wedding craft books, but this is by far the best! The projects are fun and hip unlike some other books that have projects that look like they are straight out of the 80's. Some of the best features of this book are (1) the resource guide in the back--it lists many different websites and stores where the materials can be purchased, (2) the money-saving clues for each project (it lists what the item would cost if you purchased it from a vendor as opposed to DIY--I love knowing that I'm saving money!), (3)skill level and time/manpower needed (it lists whether you can complete the project by yourself or if you should enlist the help of family members, maids, or fiance), (4) the step-by-step instructions with visual aides for those of us that need visual cues, and (5) the timeline in the front of the book lists when you should purchase materials needed by and what projects should be completed first. I definitely would recommend this book as I already plan to do several of the projects! GREAT BUY!

I am not much of a DIY person (I am not a fan of the "homemade look"), but the end result of the projects in this book definitely don't look homemade. I found the projects in this book to be easy, creative and classy. As a wedding planner, I have encouraged my clients to use this book when they want a high-end look at a low-end price. Great job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Source of DIY Touches to Personalize Your Day, February 27, 2008

I love this book. Being a wedding planner, I've read more wedding-related books than I'm willing to admit. This is one of the few that not only delivers many, many useful and stylish projects, it's well written, upbeat, and nice looking. There are far too many wedding books that are just a waste of time (something most brides have too little of). This book raises the bar for other wedding authors. Thanks, Khris Cochran! I recommend this to all my clients who want inspiration to personalize their weddings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book-Neat Ideas, July 15, 2009

This review is from: The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding (Paperback)
I really like this book. I found some good ideas for a seating chart and creative table numbers. The plus is that they are easy to do and the author's instructions are simple to follow. I bought a pre-cut cupcake stand for $30 and was a little miffed to find one in here I could've made for about $15 or less. If you are looking for some fun DIY projects before the wedding that are not ridiculously difficult (hello Martha Stewart) then this is the book for you.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I bought this book as a guide to help me create my own invitations, but it is so much more. It offers creative ideas for everything from Save The Dates to Flower Girl Buckets & Ring Bearer Pillows, all the way to Reception Decor & Favors, plus great ideas for storing & displaying your memories. I did not find anything that looked "cheap" in this book, and am now inspired and excited to plan my wedding. Each project offers a material list, step-by-step instruction, and price comp to the store bought version. The only drawback is there are only 2 types of invitations included, neither of which fit my personal style. But don't let that discourage you from buying this book. Just buy an invitation book to supplement it. Also, be sure to do a trial run on the papercrafts before you cut all the paper. The author's measurements are EXACT on the Save The Dates with little room for error, so you will want to figure out how to adjust measurements per your need ahead of time. Overall, this book is priceless, creative, and inspirational. BUY THIS BOOK!

This book is the perfect companion for wanting to make her wedding day unique. All projects can be done easily as is, or can easily be modified to fit your own ideas and themes! Khris definitely hit it out of the park with this book. I can't wait for a sequel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Crafty Goodness, January 14, 2009

This review is from: The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding (Paperback)
I purchased this book along with "DIY Wedding." What polar opposites they are. While I didn't expect them to be the same, DIY books often repeat the same things over and over. Not the case here, I love this book. I just completed my 'shaker' save the date cards. What a fun project to do! My mom, my fiance and myself tinkered around with them and had a lot of fun. I'm planning on doing the fabric envelope invitations in a month or so. I was a bit scared to even start this book after reading "DIY Wedding" (see my review for that book....), but this was a wonderful suprise and I reccomend this book to any crafty bride-to-be OR anyone who likes to make their own favors!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Resource for DIY Wedding Projects, March 22, 2008
This review is from: The DIY Bride: 40 Fun Projects for Your Ultimate One-of-a-Kind Wedding (Paperback)
Khris Cochran has made a name for herself in the wedding industry by establishing DIYBride.com as THE ultimate go-to resource for wedding craft advice and how-to information for brides and wedding vendors alike. Her first book, The DIY Bride is a welcome addition to the materials on the market for couples who want to create a unique wedding. This book is chock full of projects that are chic and stylish, from custom wedding maps to luminaria trees. None of the projects look handmade, even though they are simple enough for anyone to do. Khris has written a book that is witty, fun to read, and includes easy-to-understand instructions on how to create each featured wedding craft. I'd recommend her book to anyone who
has the time and desire to create unique elements for their wedding.
