4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic follow up overall December 28, 2010
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Turntable Bundle
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Last year, I received the original DJ Hero turntable for Christmas, and the game hooked me instantly. After only a couple weeks, I was already clamoring for a sequel. Thankfully, it came this year, and it's just as good...but it didn't quite meet my expectations.

The additions they've made in this game, including the new/improved Empire (career) mode are welcome. The mixes are all top-notch, including everything from hip-hop to trance, dance, rock, disco, new wave, etc. There's plenty here for everyone, and it's the perfect party game, particularly now that you can have someone join in on the mic and another turntable. I opted to buy the turntable bundle, particularly because it was actually cheaper than the standalone game. I'd suggest that buyers try and find this turntable bundle discounted, even if they weren't considering another turntable, because it seems to be quite cheap at a lot of retailers.

Because of the excellent mixes, I'd go as far to say that this is the #1 music game for parties, even if there's only one person playing. The music will get everyone feeling good. However, one disappointment is that this game does not include the DJ/guitar mode that the first DJ Hero had. Although there's not a great selection of mixes that would include guitar parts, it was still a fun addition and a good way to get people in who are not familiar with the turntable yet. Instead of a guitar, another player can join in on the mic...which is okay, but the mixes are not always conducive to being sung. It's a decent way to get someone else to join in, but the guitar mode was better. With two turntables and a mic, the game supports up to 3 players, but I can't help but wish they would have kept the DJ/guitar mode so that it could have had 4-player support.

3.0 out of 5 stars I wanna love it... but I don't January 27, 2011
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Turntable Bundle
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
While I do like the music/mixes in this newest installment of DJ Hero; good variety, it still came to same ol' crappy, cheap turntable. I'm a little disappointed that the quality of the peripheral is well.. just cheap. The cover for the remote on mine keeps falling off and at one point one of remotes got stuck. I think I got a lemon. I would have better off keeping the original turntable I had from the first game because while it was also cheap I didn't have as many issues with it. Speaking off the first game, what happened to being able to use the guitar in DJ2? Maybe it wasn't popular but I liked it, it added some variety and was kinda fun. I was dissapointed in not seeing that. In additon to the above grips I have had an issue with the game play itself. Perhaps I'm out of practice but I had some issues with responsiveness. Now for the good- I do like that they added lyrics so that if you don't have two turntables someone else can play with you if you have microphone. Both my Rock Band and EA mics work so no problems there. The addition of a "career" mode is interesting as well but was it really necessary? Honestly, though I have barely played this since I've had it because I don't enjoy the actual game play. The graphics are fine, sound is fine but too have had calibration woes, couple this with it not picking up my moves just takes away from the fun. Overall, I would give this game a "just okay". Maybe it will be more fun during a party.

Got this for my kids as a Christmas present and have really enjoyed all the fun we have had playing this game. Plus the price on Amazon being $30 cheaper than retail stores mad it that much better. Definitely worth getting.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke on first use August 1, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii| Edition:Turntable Bundle|Verified Purchase
Buyer beware as this a sub-par item. I brought this for my 14 year old granddaughter's birthday and it broke during her first session using it. After breaking, the turntable then tried to trap the Wii controller. It was with great difficulty that the controller was finally removed so we could return this bundle of junk. I understand this is a fun game if you can get a turntable that doesn't break quickly. If you buy this bundle I wish you luck. From the reviews, not every turntable breaks so easily. Apparently, we got a lemon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great game, CRAPPY Turntable quality!! January 31, 2011
By torque
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii|Edition:Turntable Bundle
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I was drooling over DJ Hero 2 from the first time I saw the advertisement. Counting down the days till it came out, I got it on the very first day, the DJ Hero 2 party bundle with 2 turntables. After finishing a few tutorials, it was pretty easy to get into the gameplay. If you're into electronic/dance/pop music, the game gets addictive very quickly, and in no time you'll be sweating through Prodigy, Justice, cheesy 90s dance tunes into the wee hours of the night.

The only reason why I'd give this game a poor rating overall is the HARDWARE, the plastic turntables are waaaay cheap. The hardware is a huge factor, because basically it's your ONLY tool, I do not understand why they shortchanged this feature. Within just 1 hour of playing, the cheap plastic buttons started to stick! I refuse to go through the trouble making multiple trips for exchanging and refunding just because EA decided to cheaply manufacture plastic buttons. I'd even rather shell out a couple extra 20-40 bucks if they make industrial strength turntables with metal instead of plastic, and stronger button springback, for chrissakes!

And I know of many customers of complain of this, why waste so much money and plastic on something that's going to break eventually? Think about it, the user will be repeatedly pressing those buttons in excitement for hours on end, for days/weeks/months, at the speed of Fast-paced dance/electronic songs, these cheap plastic buttons are the parts that will take the most abuse, so they really need to redesign/re-engineer this part of the turntable. Also the wii-remote compartment is too small, you gotta shove those remotes in/close to cracking them in order to close the trunk, very poor design. I'm very disappointed, they really rushed through the turntable design without thought to long term usability.
