As someone that grew up in Orlando, FL I have been around the breaks sounds since the beginning. The breaks I like are captured on this CD. The basslines carry the tracks. In so much of the breaks style the tweak effects seem to try to carry the load. What you end up with is knobaholics that lose the essence of their track cause they can't stop touching the knobs.

But this CD offers the sound that captures a blend of the ragga breaks and the original breaks sound that Icey pressed on early Zone recordings.

A must have for three reasons: 1-It sounds good 2-There's not many breaks CDs like this one 3-It captures some of the history of breaks

Florida Breaks at it's best. Simple and extremely groovy. That's what we call Icey Breaks. I have this Cd since years but it never looses it's charm. This was the first Breaks mix I ever heard and it is the reason that I still listen to Breaks.
It is the original Florida Sound that can't be copied. Anybody with an understanding for electronic music should enjoy this CD.

DJ Icey is definately my favorite dj. This is a very "florida" cd. Has gotten mucho time in my player. If you liked this, check out Sunshine State of Mind. Mellower tip, and phat as hell. Hardly leaves my player

Was a huge fan of his way back when this came out. Just browsing his cd's to see if there was anything new by icey! Also check out his album essential elements, it is also one of my all time favorites.

DJ Icey has been my favorite DJ for at least 12 or 13 years since he got started in Orlando, Jacksonville and Gainesville, FL. This was and still is my favorite DJ album of all time. If you like breaks, there just is no one as good as him. End of story.

If your looking for a DJ to become your favorite for electronic music, stop searching. DJ Icey is the bomb! I defy anyone to listen to this cd and not like it. Everyone I know that doesn't listen or really like electronic music always like DJ Icey. Listen and learn!

Out of all my Dj Mixtapes (or compilations..whatever) this is one of my favs (next to DJ Dan's "Loose Cabouse"). Icey sure knows how to mix up the coolest breaks. Dj Icey has always had a ear for pickin' a killer set. This album is best described in two words : Funky breakbeat. Awesome mixes of PM Dawn, Galaxy 21, headrillaz, and mixes of Icey's own stuff. Great party album, who needs a Dj when you got Icey?

"The Funky Breaks" is a very energetic house/electro breakbeat mix coming from the Orlando scene's leading Dj, Dj Icey. It includes two of his own tracks, Headrillaz hit "Get Yourself Organised" a wonderful output by Rebel MC, with Barrington Levy and the Tenor Fly, and many other fun, energetic tracks. The whole set glides along, never finding itself in a rut, always shifting from one break to the next. A fantastic assault of breaks launched by Icey.

buy this! NOW! take it home, have sex to it! become one with the goodness we call icey! this cd brought back my faith in techno! people can mass produce something that is worth while!

i cant use words to describe how great i think that icey is, out of all the dj's i have heard, and i have been listening to techno for over 10 years, noone comes close to icey! all the music that he puts out should be in everyones cd library! thanks, i just thought you should all know, becca
