The video is kind of short. Is just 35 mins. There are mixing techniques that are not explained so well.
If you're expecting to mix and match BPM this is the wrong video. Certainly it doesn't explain things like measures, BPM, notes, etc; but Hey!!, the focus of this video is supposed to be scratching right ?? (But the box says it teaches mixing too...)

From 35 mins of this video just 15 mins are dedicated to scratching. The rest is just to say how good DJ P-Love is? :\ , meaningless chat about being a DJ...and P-love staring at the camera (waiting for the scene to pass).
Then, the part that explains how to scratch in a band is awful, P-love scratches with this bass player and someone got lost in the song. I really didn't pay attention if it was the Bass Player that got lost or the DJ. So, he's not instructing you how to do it or giving tips about it. He's like showing you how to do it.
....hehehe and it was funny to see the Bass player's facial expression trying to accommodate to whatever P-love was trying to do.

So, finally, if you are a newbie with . . . money . . . in your wallet and you have NO idea how to do a scratch, then buy this video. You'll find those 15 mins useful.

P-Love gives a fairly good introduction of scratching even when is too short.
You have to be able to catch pretty fast what he's showing, because after he explains 3 moves then he just do something pro and gets you wondering .. how do I do that?? And makes you loose focus on how the thing is actually done.

The problem is, there are only 2 instructional videos on the web (At least that I could find).
The other one is called "So, do you want to be a DJ?" which is a total waste of money.

Oh yeah, and the production itself was pretty lousy. It looks like a wedding video.

If you're in need of a DJ instructional, video buy DJ's Guide to Scratching.
It's kind of useful to start with. Besides, is not expensive and there's nothing else worthy around.

P-Love is a good turntablist, but he can't explain things very well. There's only about 15 minutes of instruction, then a jam session with a bass player in his bedroom (what was THAT all about?) which is for some reason billed as "Playing In A Band".

The instruction part skips over lots of stuff and doesn't go into much detail at all. Turntable Technique (a book/record combo) does a much better job of breaking things down.

On the plus side, this video isn't very expensive, and there are a lot of close-up shots.

Or, maybe you just know P-Love is tha man and you just want to watch him work his magic. Any way you slice it, for $13, you'll be glad you dropped the small change on this one. It's instructional, it's musical and funky, and it's legit. This is straight info. from a guy who knows his stuff.

So, in conclusion: Got $13? Got a couple turntables or just an itch to scratch? GET THE VIDEO.
