Great Addition to Renaissance Study,

I purchased this to augment my 10 year old's homeschool study of the Renaissance. We are using Susan Wise Bauer's Story of the World and found it really left quite a bit out of what my husband and I feel is important to cover. As with all DK books, the pictures are stunning. It doesn't spend much time on Da Vinci, it's more of a general book about the Renaissance that pays particular attention to some of Da Vinci's areas of interest. It is most definitely a survey book without much depth on any particular part of the Renaissance and is something to use in conjunction with other books.
We have definitely enjoyed it and wish it was longer! The timeline at the end of the book is wonderful but is definitely weighted to the developments in Italy at the time.

My 6-year-old boys love these books, but this title was disappointing. We wanted to learn more about Da Vinci, but look closely... this is Da Vinci AND HIS TIME. It's MOSTLY about his time and his contemporaries. So this is a disappointment because it isn't what we wanted or expected.
