Easy to carry in my purse.

The guide is great for those who not only love to see the main sights, but love to explore more of the everyday life of a city.

This is a great, full color travel guide. As other reviews detail, it shows in detail the highlights of every area in Prague. If there is a major exhibit (like St. Vitus' Cathedral) it will have a full spread showing the cathedral and pointing out with an illustration what is there. That is what makes this book great to have. We carried it through the castle complex and it was helpful. I usually use it to review the night before we head to an area for an overview. I agree with another reviewer that this is a little to large to comfortable carry around with you everywhere. I would still get this, but also pick up the Lonely Planet POCKET Prague published in June of 2012. That little gem went everywhere with us and has a great map of each section of the city tagged with highlights and recommended restaurants. It is full color but so small that it can't have pictures of everything like this one does. I would comment that I read both Fodors and Frommers before my trip (library) and preferred both the DK travel guide and the Pocket Prague. They were ok for trip planning and what to expect. I also picked up Rick Steves 2012 edition for background, read it at the hotel and used ideas from it. No color and not what I needed to explain what I was seeing like DK's!

I cannot understand why so many people give this guide five stars. I find it next to unusable. Before I got it, I had just spent a couple of weeks reading and planning from my Frommer's Paris, which was a joy to do. I decided to try a different guide for Prague due to its high ratings here. What a piece of garbage the DK guide is. I agree with another poster: you are given no idea what is worthwhile and what isn't. I get far better information on the internet. Basically, I find its so-called "organization" to be somewhat strange. Every time I pick up the book I'm saying, "what am I supposed to do with this mess?"

I've used the Eyewitness books for our last 2 trips to Europe and I absolutely love them! I've decided to choose the version (full or Top 10) depending on the amount of time we'll be visiting a city. For any trips that are 3 days or less, you can definitley get away with the Top 10 book - it boils everything down to the best choices/most popular things to do, and is much smaller and very easy to carry around with you. For our trip to Prague, I ended up buying both versions...we were in Prague for a week (half on business), but I found that after our first couple days, I was referring to the full guide more often to find places to visit and such. I would totally recommend the Eyewitness books!

I bought a different brand guide book for each of the cities I was visiting on a recent trip to Eastern Europe. This was the book I liked best. The pictures were a big part of it. Flipping through it, I could tell which sights I knew I wanted to see because of the pictures. I also could use the pictures as a reference for buildings or churches I saw that I wasn't sure of the name. It also had a ton of information on the sights.
I also really liked the suggestions of the 10 must-see sights since I had limited time in the city and didn't know much about what there was there until I arrived.

The guidebooks by DK eyewitness are great for traveling! They show very detailed maps of different areas of Prague and especially streets. The streets are very confusing in Prague because they are very windy streets and this definitely helped us find key locations in Prague. The pictures are great in this guidebook as well. I would recommend this book along with Rick Steves Prague guide book- between those 2 books you should be set!

This is a decent guide but doesn't really provide enough detail on key attractions to help reader decide whether to spend time/make the effort to check them out. Also, I didn't like how addresses of landmarks/attractions were not listed on pages where they should have been. Nice photos, maps, and general info on culture/customs, but for sheer practicality, get the Rick Steve's guides instead.

I've always found these travel guides to be excellent resources. They are extremely helpful during the preparation, vacation, and after. It's very helpful to focus on what you want to see while you are visiting. Once you are there, there are useful maps, including bus, taxi, and rail information. Once you're home, the guide (because of it's awesome photos and descriptions) are helpful in identifying some of the sites you saw and visited.

We went to Prague during 2012 Thanksgiving and this book was like a bible. We saved hundreds of dollars avoiding useless and meaningless tour guides who all had a different story. We travel a lot and we always buy DK Eyewitness book before we leave. Other DK books bought ad used with the same exceptional satisfaction – Israel, Italy, Germany. I really like shopping at Amazon but lately they have started charging taxes in Texas 
