This encyclopedia comprises of two major books and one index book. As the rest of DK books these are also rich with beautiful photography and have a wonderful layout. However, maybe it should not be called a "family" encyclopedia. The information provided is very terse and concise more suitable for children 6-12. Also there are many topics and subjects not mentioned at all.

Designed for children of primary school age, this "DK Illustrated Family Encyclopedia" contains a lot of information that would thrill a professor.It is versatile enough as to meet the needs of its intended audience. And, most of its descriptions were enhanced with comprehensive illustrations. It is a good item to have at home, but I still maintain that adults should not bank on it, since most of its information were meant for children.
