This book used to be a library book and so has some special covering on the hardcover.

If you're an adult (or even child I guess) Lego collector this is probably a nice little book to accompany your sets when they are on display.

While I can't speak to the content (I didn't read the book), I can tell you my 7 y/o grandson LOVED it.

My son is very excited for the Monster Fighter Legos and I figured this would be a fun reader for him; however, as we were reading it last night it became clear that no proof-reading was done on this title at all. Later in the book a character named Jack McHammer is continuously referred to as Frank McHammer (Frank is the first name of another Monster Fighter). Anyway it is very annoying that a book aimed at helping kids learn to read has such a blatant and repeated error in it. I would expect someone at DK Readers to at least read the book once before sending it to the printers. Not sure I will pick up any more DK Reader books in the future.

Oh DK, how I love you so! That said, this was so poorly edited, I'm not sure what happened. Perhaps in an over zealous attempt to jump on the MFL bandwagon they published without editing? There were actual misspellings of character names, as well as incorrect characters used at wrong parts of the story (not matching up to pictures either). Not a great hit for a "Readers" book. I submitted edits to DK, so maybe you should wait until a revised version is published (so your 5 year old doesn't catch the mistakes too - oops!). Great story otherwise, just needs editing.

I decided to read this because I used to love Lego as a kid, as well as anything to do with monsters, so thought, cool, I'll be reading a story following someone's horror themed Lego creations. Unfortunately that's not what this book is. When I logged onto Amazon to review this my suspicions were confirmed with all the customers who also bought this links showing that all the pages in this are just the box covers for various Lego sets. Here's a few if you are wondering what the illustrations in the book look like, the illustrations in the book are the exact same as the box covers, there's nothing additional done The Vampyre Hearse, The Ghost Train, The Swamp Creature. The accompanying story isn't really a story, reading it sounds like the voiceover from a TV commercial that airs in between kids Saturday morning cartoons. I have no idea if they are the exact same as I've never seen a commercial for these Lego Monster sets but if I had to put money on it, I'd say they are. The thing that also annoys me about these stories are that they involve a lame human character named Jack Rock, Frank McHammer (yes as the other reviewer has said they do get these first and surnames mixed up in the different Lego toy promotions) Major Steele and Anne Lee who is sort of hunting these creatures simply to have a fight with them.Read more ›

If I am going to buy a book I usually try to get a hardcover. When I had the opportunity to buy it for less than a dollar I couldn't say no. This book used to be a library book and so has some special covering on the hardcover. Considering it was a library book the condition was great. The only problem that I ran into was that a couple of pages came out of the binding (not a hard fix).

If you have a three year old boy you probably have a challenge getting him to sit down for reading time. My son loves this book. It is too long for a 3yr old but the idea was to get him to be interested in books. As he grows older i'm sure he will trying reading it.

Great book if you have the Lego monster fighters toys. This is the highest reading level for the monster fighters so it gives more background to the characters and plot (such as the name of the airplane and motorcycle or where Major Quinton Steele is from).

Great buy for Lego fans.

LEGO Monster Fighters from DK Readers - a wonderful children's book. These can be a collectible if you have all series of them. Comes in mint condition, arrives fast and I rate this company a A++++ for their service to their customers.

It is a great break from building and also brings story to what he builds. Was not as big a hit as toy but he can't stop telling me about it now
