Okay, so we know the DLC situation for PC and 360. But considering the on-disc DLC for 2 on the PS3, and the fact that 1 was never released on this platform so the DLC isn't already on the market, do we know what is being included in this set?
Before I get flamed here, I've already Googled and read some of the news posts, I was just wondering if there was a hidden gem I had not found (or if anyone has any inside dirt).
Given ME2 had all the DLC on disc because it was a collected release after the fact (and this is the same release we'll see here on the PS3 version, so there's that already), I would go ahead and assume that all the DLC will be on disc for ME1, since it doesn't exist on the PSN, either, and will thus be another collected release. ME3 on the other hand will likely be bare bones release as it was released on the PS3 at the same time as the X360, and has thus seen all the DLC releases on the PSN.
All this said, you can't really go on anything, yet, save for assumptive observations (like the above paragraph). They have not released the details of the PS3 version, yet, because they're still setting it all up. What Zentner says is accurate for the PC and X360 releases (which will be 5 discs each), but such details were specifically indicated as not related to the PS3 version (which will likely all be on 1 disc, since they have the BD format and all the recent PS3 game collections have been single disc sets).
But yeah... simply the answer to your question is that we don't know yet... but based on the history of release, I would assume we'll see all the DLC for ME1 on disc for the PS3 release.
They just posted a new blog with info for the DLC.
"The PlayStation 3 version of Mass Effect Trilogy will have the original Mass Effect with Bring Down the Sky integrated into the game, both on-disc and on the PSN download. Mass Effect 2 will still have the same DLC on-disc that it was originally shipped with: Cerberus Network; Kasumi; Overlord; and Lair of the Shadow Broker. Finally, Mass Effect 3 will also be exactly as it originally shipped."
Does anyone know if ME2 for PS3 will be updated so that you can import your ME1 character into it?
From what Bioware has said, the PS3 version of ME will be as good of a port as ME2 was. (Of course a developer isn't going to say otherwise!) I thought ME2 looked superior on PS3 than the 360, but that also probably due in part to ME2 using the updated ME3 engine.
IMHO the textures on ME were ugly on the 360 and the PC. Fingers crossed the the PS3 version will look better. ME2 for the PC has some hi res character textures available for it, but the main benefit of the ME trilogy on the PC is being able to play in 3D via Nvidia 3D vision. ME1 and ME2 especially look simply outstanding in 3D.
Zaeed should be there. He's not listed in the list of DLC for ME2, but it also says "Mass Effect 2 will still have the same DLC on-disc that it was originally shipped with," which would indicate that Zaeed is included. I also believe that Zaeed was part of the Cerberus Network pack.
I still think it's a cheap cash grab that EA won't put all the DLC in it, but I am glad they are putting Mass Effect 1 on the disc and not making it a separate code download. I'll sell my 360 copies for this eventually (I refuse to pay $60 for it).
