5.0 out of 5 stars Great accessory to the Ipod Shuffle especially for runners!
I'm not sure if this is an absolute must-have accessory since the Ipod Shuffle will apparently clip-on to clothing securely, but I don't want this thing flapping around on my clothes while I'm running.

The quality of the armband and the Action Jacket seem nice. The issue is that neither the power on/off switch nor the shuffle on/off switch on the side of the shuffle are accessible. I'm not sure if this is an absolute must-have accessory since the Ipod Shuffle will apparently clip-on to clothing securely, but I don't want this thing flapping around on my clothes while I'm running.

I bought this to compliment my Ipod Shuffle and it was the perfect hands-free solution. It's comfortable, not itchy and is much better than running with a 30g Ipod in-hand or at all. Unless you have the biceps of a baby or the Incredible Hulk, it should fit just fine.

As someone else pointed out, the on/off and shuffle-play switches are not accessible once you insert the Ipod into the jacket. You can't see the charge/on light either. I can only imagine the reason Apple did this. Maybe to lessen the chance of sweat seeping into the nooks and crannies of your Ipod. They could have just put a clear protective window over the switches like they did the main buttons. Who knows?

Instead of taking the Ipod in and out of the jacket everytime I turn it on/off I just cut a hole. There are pictures of the switches on the jacket, but no access holes. I used the picture as a template and carefully cut through the material with a box cutter and some scissors. You can do the same for the shuffle switch, but I prefer my songs to play straight through so I don't care about that switch. The hole is tiny, but suitable for me to access the on/off switch.

The solution works fine. No problems. No seepage.

If you run in the sun for long periods of time with the action jacket and a sleeveless shirt, the band will leave a farmers tan the same way short-sleeve shirts and watches do.

The neoprene band is machine washable, but I haven't had it long enough to say if it is durable through hundreds of washes or comes apart at the seams. I plan to handwash and air dry it.

There are labels on the side of the Action Jacket indicating where the switches are, but with the neoprene cover you really can't switch them on/off and if you do manage to you have know way of knowing their position. I assume I will be cutting a small whole so i have access to those switches. One nice thing is that you can use the arm band separate from the jacket, which is the main reason I bought this anyway (for the armband that is).

1.0 out of 5 stars lousy quality, January 28, 2011

i believe this is a generation 2,3 armband, but it's a horrible fit w. the gen. 4 shuffle - i realize you can cut holes in the cover, but c'mon... the main cover for the player is poorly designed and not great in the quality dept. i much prefer the creative zen stone player, w. the rubberized cover and armband - and it has a screen and great features, all for the same price...

4.0 out of 5 stars pretty good product compared to Tune Belt, April 20, 2009
This review is from: DLO Action Jacket Armband Case for iPod shuffle 2nd generation (Black) (Electronics)
I have owned/used this for over a year and a half and it continues to work well.

Pros:

- armband is 1.5" thick so there is enough area so that it doesn't slip
- armband is very elastic you can easily adjust the amount of pressure/compression to your arm as well as it will fit large arms with comfort.
- jacket is detachable so you can just use the armband by itself if that makes sense for you. I have not really used it alone.
- jacket size is very snug to the ipod

Cons:
- as mentioned in other posts: it is difficult to turn the shuffle off/on or put it into shuffle mode. minor issue
- there is no place put the excess cable of the headphones and therefore I need to wrap the excess around the elastic band. Even with the cord wrapped around the armband here is no comfort issue here, it feels pretty uniform on your skin throughout.

----
I have just ordered the Tune Belt for someone else (and me to check out :) and although I have not used it in practice yet, there are some obvious differences.

-Armband is 1" thick and NOT very elastic. max 13" in circumference with stretch to about 18".
-Jacket is sewn on the armband such that the closing flap of the jacket is against your skin and therefore might cause irritation from all the bumps/seams.
- whats good is that it does have a place to put your excess headphone cord.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little irritating, January 15, 2008

I like the idea, but turning the shuffle off and on can get difficult when the switch is covered by the jacket. I end up taking off the jacket to turn it off and on.

I purchased this to have a protective case for the shuffle. The design is terrible. There is no opening for the on/off switch. So you either take the shuffle out to switch it on or cut a hole in the side of the case. Not very user friendly.

Not a lot of choices in armbands for the Shuffle. This one works. I had to punch a hole for one of the buttons, as other reviewers have mentioned, but it was easily done with a sharp pencil. I'd rather have a wider band, since the skinny band may look a bit silly around my bicep, but considering the lack of choice and the low price on this one, I can live with the faults. The elastic band and velcro are durable and well-made, and have survived nearly a year of use and life inside my gym bag without visible changes. I'd say, don't waste time trying to find a perfect arm band - this one is good enough.

Seems more of a pain in the butt to use!! So much easier to clip it somehwere on my shirt then wear this band. I had bought one for me and 1 for my wife, neither of us really liked it, so didn't use it!

this arm band is really well made! the size fits good for a normal arm. It does not strech enought round my bicep, it feels snug, but i feel if my arms get bigger as i work out i will need to look for a bigger strap. not to exagerate. now my wife wants one too

2.0 out of 5 stars too small, June 15, 2011

If you work out and have arms that measure more than 18 inches, this band is way to small. Its made well and my wife likes it, but I cannot use mine.
