5.0 out of 5 stars Used to hate DLO products but, this one is changing my mind about them
I just got the DLO Hipcase Holster the other day at the local Apple Store and I was really skeptical about DLO products because I've purchased some cheaply made iPod cases from them in the past and I've never liked anything they've put out. Now, browsing the Apple Store, I saw some holster cases and there were a few different styles to choose from and I saw the DLO down...

I owned this Hip holster for about two weeks. Within the two weeks, the glue holding the belt attatchment to the actual case was F***ed. it was no longer holding it so i would check every so often to make sure it was still attached to my hip. It still stayed on my hip but i had to push the case up for it to stay on to the belt attachment. So i ended up at the club one day...

This review is from: DLO HipCase Holster for iPod touch 1G (Black Nylon) (Electronics)
I just got the DLO Hipcase Holster the other day at the local Apple Store and I was really skeptical about DLO products because I've purchased some cheaply made iPod cases from them in the past and I've never liked anything they've put out. Now, browsing the Apple Store, I saw some holster cases and there were a few different styles to choose from and I saw the DLO down on the bottom of the rack just hanging there all lonely as if nobody liked it. I decided I wanted to check it out closer up, so I picked it up and examined it as carefully as possible through the package. After a few minutes of deciding, I asked one of the Apple employees if I could open the package and try it out before I made the purchase. The woman said that they're not supposed to do that but, she would take the chance with me in case she could make the sale. Well, she opened the box for me and I immediately liked the texture, the way it felt tough and sturdy and not flimsy and cheap. I took out my iPod touch and expected it to slide in kind of loosely but, I had to give it some to get it in. It's a very snug fit but, it's not too snug to have trouble taking it out. At least you know it's not just bouncing around in there. The latch is held on by velcro but, the prickly part of the velcro isn't your usual velcro feeling... it doesn't feel sharp if you touch it yet, it still stays down somehow... it's like new-age velcro or something... never seen it before. I also like the belt clip too... it's nice and sturdy and fits tight.

Okay... so now for my ONLY complaint (I figured out a workaround though).
I didn't like the fear of the hold switch getting caught or pressed while I was putting the iPod touch in the holster, so I just put the iPod touch in the case with the hold switch on top (facing right) and it doesn't touch anything on the way in.... the only problem with this layout is that it's harder to access the headphone port but, you can run the headphone cord through the slot in the case, plug it into your iPod, pick a song or shuffle and then slide the iPod back into the case at an angle so that the plug will fit back through the hole in the case. Once you buy the case, you'll see what I mean... it's up to you... it's a preference really. I'll get used to it. The rest of the design makes me forget about this small problem anyway.

Thank you for reading my review... I know it was long but, someone may need a detailed impression on all aspects of the product instead of the usual "Good case, works as advertised".

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect HipCase for the iPod Touch, December 1, 2007

Without a doubt this was crafted to be just right for the iPod Touch. Only thing missing for your iPod would be either a transparent case or transparent shields or gel skins and you're all set for use. Headphone access is perfect as is the on-off-suspend switch. Fitting is snug and stylish.

5.0 out of 5 stars DLO Does the Job Well, December 24, 2007
This review is from: DLO HipCase Holster for iPod touch 1G (Black Nylon) (Electronics)
This is my third iPhone holster, and my 2nd DLO. The first holster I got was the Griffin one - nice idea, but pretty useless. It was secure when in the vertical position - which interfered with sitting or driving. In the horizontal position it could side out.

The 2nd was the leather DLO - loved it - BUT - the leather stretched and scuffed. Which is why I got this.

What I like is the double layer of protection up front - which is where you need it based on the scuff pattern on my leather one. The comments about the exposed corners being a problem are wrong - the exposed corners let you hit the on/off button without removing it, and let you listen to music with it in the case - left side or right side.

I wear it on my right hip - so I have the earphone jack top front - so to the volume control is right at my thumb tip when I pop the flap open.

I've never lost it off my belt, and I've never dropped the iPhone when taking it out one handed.

Also, there is NO way to damage the corner of the phone unless you are doing a hell of a lot of damage to yourself in the process. The likely hit is bumping the front of the case - and it's got a full cover of nylon, plus velcro plus the top flap.

Finally, the black nylon doesn't appear to be scuffing - it still looks great after a month, which isn't much compared to the beating my leather one got - but so far so good. Also, the nylon doesn't appear to be stretching either.

Bottom line, if you want easy, secure and elegant access to your iPhone - this case rocks.

This is a great case for the IPod Touch. It holds the Touch very snug and the belt clip is good. I would suggest something different if you were going to use it at the gym though. The Touch is hard to get to to change songs mid-workout. Great case for carrying though.

I feel a little silly writing a review about a case, but the iPod Touch fits in here like it was poured in! It is also much sturdier than the picture would seem to indicates and is not some flimsy leather thing...this offers some real protection for an expensive item.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, April 29, 2008

A well built product and nicely designed. It fits my iPod Touch snugly and is small enough not to catch on things like my jackets, seat belts, etc. The pouch for credit cards and drivers license is a boon since this case can double for my wallet. I would give it five stars except that the latch is velcro and not magnetic.

It's well designed, rugged, and seems to protect my iPod touch quite nicely. I don't use the belt clip and wear it. I just keep the Touch protected while it rides around in my brief case. Great velcro closure, so no worries about it accidently opening.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Pleased AT ALL, September 2, 2008

I owned this Hip holster for about two weeks. Within the two weeks, the glue holding the belt attatchment to the actual case was F***ed. it was no longer holding it so i would check every so often to make sure it was still attached to my hip. It still stayed on my hip but i had to push the case up for it to stay on to the belt attachment. So i ended up at the club one day and i had the touch on me. I got home the next morning and realized that the belt attachment was on my belt but the case and the iPod was G.O.N.E. So i had fun with my brand new belt attachment. lol. i was lucky enough to know the club owner and got my iPod back. So all in all; this case S.U.C.K.S. not cool. waste of money and almost made me lose my investment. No good. Caveat Emptor

5.0 out of 5 stars Lasted a year, June 22, 2011

Bought this for my husband's ipod touch. He put it on his belt and used it everyday, all day long. The part that hooks onto the belt finally gave way a year later. He liked it so much, and wore it out, that he asked for another. In fact, he still keeps his ipod in this holster, in his pocket. At the price, it is worth buying one a year because the ipod is still in great shape. It was protected by this holster (and clear skin).

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for certain situations..., October 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DLO HipCase Holster for iPod touch 1G (Black Nylon) (Electronics)
I bought this case for general exercising and it is great. I always used my pockets before, but I think this may have contributed to my headphone jack getting damaged on my prior touch.

The nylon case is perfect to ward off water/sweat from my Ipod Touch. It is very slim and not too obstructive for running or gym activities. With it being a slim holster, you are not going to be able to fit a touch with a case, unless the case is thin itself.
