4.0 out of 5 stars cord management feature very nice
This is a lightweight and generally welldesigned cover for the ipod classic. The rubberized cover is shock resistant and access to the wheel is not hindered by the cover. The cord management system is one of the best features as my old covers left the cords dangling and tangled in my purse. You simply have small indentation to insert the plug and then wind the cord...

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs some work.
This product fits very well on the ipod classic 80GB, looks good too. There is just one problem, though it protects the wheel of the ipod, there is nothing to protect the screen. I've had to buy a seperate screen protector to prevent scratches.

This is a lightweight and generally welldesigned cover for the ipod classic. The rubberized cover is shock resistant and access to the wheel is not hindered by the cover. The cord management system is one of the best features as my old covers left the cords dangling and tangled in my purse. You simply have small indentation to insert the plug and then wind the cord around a raised track and insert the earbods in their spot. The only disadvantage to this one is no easy use clip or belt connector. Even so, after seeing this one on my daughter's ipod, I'm replacing my current cover with one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, but troublesome, February 10, 2008
By
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
On January 5th, I purchased a DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80 GB iPod classic. As the title suggests, this product is designed specifically for the 80 GB iPod Classic, and therefore may not work as expected for other iPods.

The quick review: Overall, this case offers a good deal of protection, and the cord management feature, if you use the standard iPod buds, is rather helpful. However, without any screen protection, minor-to-major issues with the wheel, and minor issues with the cord manager, this model may not be a wise choice.

This model also offers, on the back of the case, earbud and cord management. Basically, there are two spots to place your earbuds, spacing on all sides to allow the cords to be wrapped around, and another spot to insert the other end of the cord.

In practice, this works very well. However, there's no quick way to easily release the cord once it's been wound. On the other hand, this does mean your cords will stay where you've put them. The earbuds, however, are another story. While they'll stay in well the first couple of times, after a while they start to pop out, especially when you pull them out of an inner coat pocket. However, because of the cord management, this isn't that big of an issue.

One thing that may not be readily apparent is that this model doesn't offer any screen protection. While I opened the packaging expecting it, I was sorely mistaken. Depending upon your usage of this case, that may be a major problem. However, the iPod Classic is supposed to have a stronger screen ... In my own usage, which includes sitting on a desk most of the time, to an inside coat pocket for travel, I've noticed some level of spotting, but no scratching.

Finally, we have the question of whether the case impacts normal usage. Sadly, I've noticed that this case does impact normal usage, sometimes in a very significant way.

The top, for plugging in your phones and placing on hold, and the bottom, for charging and connectivity, are left available and free. The front and back are otherwise completely covered, which means no finger prints. However, the wheel is also covered, which is sadly where functionality is impacted.

Although I've only slide the case onto the iPod once, the front just isn't tight enough, which means that when attempting to use the wheel, either to move through menus, or changing the volume, the plastic ends up negating my fingers motion. Unfortunately, this has happened enough that I was strongly tempted to rip off the case and just go without.

Overall, I'm fairly happy with the DLO Jam Jacket. The fact that there is no covering over the screen, and that the wheel functionality sometimes suffers are in fact fairly major issues. However, the earbud management feature is quite nice, and combined with the improved strength of the iPod Classic screen, this case isn't a total wash.

I give this product 3 of 5 stars, since while the purchase wasn't a total wash, I can't honestly recommend this case above all others, and might indeed be happier with another one.

5.0 out of 5 stars the ANSWER, December 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
It looked cool enough. What a great idea! I am always fumbling with the headphones to my iPod when I have to take them off quickly and respond to someone interrupting me listening to a 24 minute Runaway Jim. "I couldn't hear you. I was listening to the most important thing I have ever heard when you came, saw my headphones on but asked a question anyway, knowing you'd force me to take my headphones off and you would have to repeat that question." And then I am involved in whatever this interloper has me doing, standing around with a thin cord and little earbuds of joy tangled in one hand. What am I supposed to do with this headphone cord?!? Wrap it around my hand and then loop the last bit of cord around the larger loop, tucking the end into a loose knot? NO! NO! NO! I will not do that. I refuse! I need a product to wrap the cord and keep it within 17 millimeters of my MP3 player.

And I found this!

And it works!

It does exactly what they say! You have to start at the right point, but you can wrap the cord and perfectly fit the earbuds right in the rubber slots of the case! It's the ANSWER.

Then...

The interloper returns. I try to read his lips this time over a full cranked version of "Halleys Comet" form fall '97. I can't. So I angrily yank the cord from my waist so the earbuds POP out of my head simultaneously and disappear to my lap. Little does this jerk know I am diligently, blindly wrapping my headphones cord in a meticulous manner under the table, silently fitting plastic to rubber as the buds slip like fingers to glove on the back of the case. This guy asking about "Emergency evacuation plan" this and "Hazmat regulations" that has no idea that I have a perfectly wrapped iPod headphone cable, attached to it's mothers case like a baby kangaroo in her pouch. No clue.

Don't be fooled by these wooks with their flashy colors and weird iPod cases and accessories, trying to sell xerox copies of actual ticket printouts. Get away from that trash right away. Get this thing and you're VIP, backstage and hanging on the bus.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Case, January 4, 2008
By
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
When you get it shipped you will get it in it's original packaging. The case is very soft and fits perfectly. The problem with this product is that it does not come with a screen protector, it's just reinforced rubber around the screen. The second problem is that you will have to unplug you headphones every time you wrap them up. Before you insert your headphones for the first time you might want to make sure that you have them inserted properly, you may have to look up pictures on the internet, or on the box. Overall the product is great!

P.S. In the package you might receive, 35 free mp3s downloads and a audio book download, the offers are USE LESS they want you to sign up for a monthly plan for the audio book and the 35 free mp3s are the same. I advise you not to use them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it..., January 1, 2008
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
Nothing to write home about here, does it offer SOME protection...yes but not enough to warrant 20 bucks +shipping. Doesn't keep the iPod clean, the scroll wheel protection makes the iPod classic frustrating to operate I cut it out of mine and the iPod still gets dirty. It probably has saved me from some nicks and scrapes, but the back of the iPod is still getting scratched up.

The cable management sort of works, I mean you can wrap your wires around it and does prevent tangles but it doesn't hold non-iPod or more expensive earbuds (like v-modas.) Not something unique to this case and other cases offer it and when I'm in a bind I usually just wrap them around the iPod itself.

If you want a little bit of protection for your iPod I guess go for it but you can find better products at the same price point or maybe even less. For scratch protection go with Invishield for total protection nothing beats the otterbox.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kills the wheel, June 5, 2008
By
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
I really wanted to like this case - it's nice-feeling, very functional, and I liked the earbud management - however, it kills the wheel's responsiveness. I completely lose all sensitivity between 3 and 6 o'clock on the wheel. The wheel works fine outside of the case. The hunt for the perfect case continues.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Good, September 8, 2008
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
I thought this would be a great product to have to protect my new ipod and earphones. It does this which is good. However, the protection over the wheel protects a little too much. I am not able to turn the volume up or down or go through the menu options without having to take the jacket off. I can click to get to my music but that's about it. I am looking for something else that gives me the same protection but will allow me to use my ipod more efficiently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ipod case, June 16, 2008
This review is from: DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80/120 GB iPod classic 6G (Black) (Electronics)
One reason I like this ipod case is because you not only are protecting your ipod, which is like an investment but also you can manage the headphones cord which can become annoyningly tangled. As soon as my son saw it, he wanted one, so I had to buy another one for him. And the price was great.
