4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and works, but may need additional hardware.
My car has a aux jack in the armrest compartment, so I didn't bother with the fm transmitter feature and instead ran a wire to the dock's aux jack. I hooked everything up and tried it out. There was a very loud 'whine' noise. Resolved this by attaching a ground loop isolator to the line.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Sound Ever
There are basically two things wrong with this item. The sound is very bad and it's difficult to remove.

I've had my Zune for a couple of months now and I was ready to have my music played through my stereo in my truck. I didn't see any reviews on this product so I thought I take a chance. Well that chance turned out to be BAD! I read all the instructions...

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Sound Ever, March 12, 2007

There are basically two things wrong with this item. The sound is very bad and it's difficult to remove.

I've had my Zune for a couple of months now and I was ready to have my music played through my stereo in my truck. I didn't see any reviews on this product so I thought I take a chance. Well that chance turned out to be BAD! I read all the instructions and tried every possible means of improving the sound but all I got was a sound like an old fashion transistor radio. As a matter of fact, it was worst than that. Also, there was a sound like a hard drive was spinning. The volume from this device was really low and I had to turn up my truck stereo way up just to get to a decent sound level but that only made the music sound worst. I have a 2005 Toyota Tundra with Infinity sound system and I know it wasn't my stereo.

The other negative thing I found is the power plug adapter. It is very difficult to plug in and remove. It does have a "resizing" ring that is supposed to reduce the size of the contacts so that it will fit into the power socket. But if you slide the ring to reduce the size of the contacts it won't go in all the way. Then when you do get the adapther pluged in it's like pulling teeth to remove it from the socket. You can easily pull on the resizing ring which will make the contacts open up, making it very difficult to remove. I thought I was going to break my power socket from the panel, trying to remove this thing.

The only plus side I can say is that it did transmit "sound" from my Zune to my radio (the key word here is sound... not music!!!) but that's as far as it went. Maybe there will be a product that will really work someday but this is not the one.

My advise to you is save your money and don't even come close to this product. I'm already sending this back for a refund.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad. Not perfect, October 1, 2009

I bought this for my zune HD because $80.00 for a car dock is a joke. This works great for me. It charges my zune perfectly. The sound quality is typical for a fm transmitter even though its not perfect. You do get a hiss sound but thats what Ive come to exspect from this type of transmitter. Whats great you can use the aux out to get rid of this. Even better the HD radio port is not blocked on the Zune HD so you can get a HD signal and listen to it in your car while it charges. Great feature.

The best reception your going to find is through the magnetic pickup using one of those psydo cassette cartridges. That said don't except CD quality and you won't be dissappointed. For the price point it's a great buy.

I've gone through a lot of fm transmitters for my Zune. The last one I had was this one, DLO TransDock Micro 2.0 FM Transmitter for iPod (Black) for Zune (Black/Silver)] It worked great until it suddenly stopped working and would only charge the zune when plugged in.
I bought this one as a replacement because of the price, and because it was similar to my previous one (I liked the reception...not that it broke!)
It's such a great deal and I didn't really have much to lose. I'm really surprised how great it works, and that it's so versatile. Reception is pretty good, as was with my previous one. The options with this thing are far better than the transdock II. I've found that with every fm transmitter I've ever used, the cable that connects to the device becomes weak...making the sound quality suffer. This transmitter has a removable cable, that seems like I would be able to replace that component with another zune usb cable. It also has a port for an auxiliary cable.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this...and am probably going to buy another one while it's so cheap, in case anything ever happens to the one I've got now. I think that everyone has different experiences using fm transmitters because there are so many variables that can effect the quality, but it works great for me!

The transmitter works well. Every now and then you get static and it's not as loud as your normal stereo, for the price I paid it does the job.

...But i don't. I bought, put it in, and it worked. fuzzy sometimes, but i'm not that picky. the thing is, it broke. this may not be common, but it just stopped working. the only thing it does now is charge. it doesn't even display anything. the warranty expired and now i'm looking for a better one like the griffin fm transmitter plus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best you will get for the zune, April 6, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DLO TransDock Micro for Microsoft Zune (Electronics)
I got my zune for christmas 2006, the main reason, for my car. I bought the microsoft transmitter, which is 80 dollars, and was so awful. I then returned that, bought the belkin tune base, which I waited a couple months for to come out, and that was even worse, then I found this, and ordered it since I had this same one when I had an ipod and the sound was as good as it would get for a transmitter. This is defintily the best sound quality ur going to get without professional installation of the zune into your car. Somewhat static, not perfect, but good enough.

I recently purchased this product and it has worked fine. It sounds just as good as the Monster one for the ipod. I am really suprised to see so many negative reviews. I have been using a cassete adapter which works very well, but does not charge the zune. With this as having the option if I want to use that adapter as well is nice. It sounds great though without the cassete adapter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Sound, Crippled by Annoying Pulsing, May 12, 2007
By
This review is from: DLO TransDock Micro for Microsoft Zune (Electronics)
I bought this product today, and immediately tried it out in my car. It was very difficult to get into my cigarette lighter, but that is really not so bad. The sound was good, about the same quality as a Monster iCarPlay FM transmitter for the iPod. The thing that really bothered me was that whenever I would change songs, or even just scroll through my library a pulsing sound would soon follow. At first, I was just so excited to finally be able to listen to my music library in the car I thought I could just ignore it. But as I listened more and more, I was more and more annoyed. Sometimes the pulsing would last for over 10 seconds, and would occur every time between the end of one song and the start of the next. It definitely ruined the experience of listening to the music, as it overwhelmed the all the other sound. it sounds like the hard drive inside the Zune moving, as you can sometimes feel it when you hold the Zune. Still, this is no excuse, as I do not hear this noise when I listen on my headphones. Having tried this on other cars, I was quickly disillusioned, and after owning the DLO TransDock Micro for not even a day I am returning it immediately. Bottom line, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
