I'm a new Clint Black fan. Especially after listening to D'lectrified. Like many others I bought the CD because of the beautiful duet he sings with his wife Lisa called "When I Said I Do". But I was delighted to find the rest of the CD to be fantastic. I especially enjoy the songs he did with other famous artists like Kenny Loggins, Steve Wariner and Bruce Hornsby. The song "Harmony" with Kenny is especially beautiful. If you ever get down in the dumps and you listen to this CD you won't be down any more. The songs are either beautiful or fun. You are missing out if you don't buy this one.

Haven't considered myself a Clint Black fan, but liked the current duet, "When I Said I Do" Move over Tim and Faith...it's a beautiful song. Liked the variety of blues, jazz and country combined. Favorite ones are Galaxy Song--fun and yet well arranged and Harmony. Highly recommend it for something different. Die hard country fans may not like it, but for those who enjoy a variety of music styles, try it!

Typically, when I buy CDs, it takes me a couple of run-throughs before I decide whether or not I like it. It seems sometimes I have a hard time distinguishing songs from one another until I give it some time. But this CD is a notable exception. Before the second song was overwith I was making a long-distance call to my father, demanding that he go out and buy this CD immediately. I am a hard-core, traditional country fan, and I respect and appreciate genuine musicianship. Clint Black definitely has that. Each song on this CD is remarkable in its own way (with the exception of Galaxy Song; I just can't get into that one). My personal favorite is the duet with Steve Wariner, "Been There." The bottom line is, this is one of the most fantastic, ear-pleasing country CDs I've had the pleasure to listen to...and I buy a lot of CDs. I highly recommend it.

The title of Clint Black's latest album, D'lectrified, says it all. When making this record, Clint didn't use a single electric instrument. However, as he always does, Clint came out with an excellent album--and this time, he produced the entire record himself.

"When I Said I Do", the initial single, is the highlight of this one. Clint's wife, Lisa, sang background vocals on a couple of his earlier hits, "Like The Rain" and "Half Way Up", as she does here. However, on "When I Said I Do", Lisa's voice is almost as powerful as her husband's. Other guest vocalists are Steve Wariner on "Been There"(Steve is not only Clint's co-writer on this one, but the lead guitarist); Bruce Hornsby on "Dixie Lullaby", on which he also plays piano; Eric Idle on "Galaxy Song", which Idle wrote; Kenny Loggins on "Harmony"; and Waylon Jennings on "Are You Sure Waylon Done It This Way", Clint's remake of the classic Waylon song "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way".

Clint also remade two of his classic hits, "Burn One Down" and "No Time To Kill", for D'lectrified. "Burn One Down", despite being all acoustic like the rest of the songs on the album, is transformed into an up-tempo rocker with some nifty saxophone playing by Edgar Winter and a bluesy harmonica solo by Clint. Clint's friend and longtime lead guitarist, Hayden Nicholas, did some clever guitar picking on the updated version of "No Time To Kill", which is decidedly more up-tempo than the original. Bruce Hornsby also did some awesome piano work on this one.

These songs are just the highlights of what is an altogether excellent record. Clint Black has been making great music for 10 years now. On D'lectrified, he gives us more reasons to like what he's done.

I bought this CD because of the beautiful duet "When I said I Do" that he does with his wife, Lisa Hartman Black. I quickly loved the diversity of this CD-- it is not the traditional country album, but MUCH better! I quickly fell in love with the "Galaxy song" as well as the single "Love she can't live without". I am impressed these beautiful songs were produced without electric instruments-- they are all so beautiful, you don't even miss them! This is a must buy!

In country music there are a few real ballad singer left, Clint Black is one of them. His latest album is well worth the money. Clint Black's ability to belt out one great hit after another is truly remarkable.

Most impressive about this album is two things, first Clint's debut as a producer and he makes the most of the opportunity. Second not one electric instrument was used on the recording - a real masterpiece.

Songs like When I said I do, recorded with his wife, Lisa Hartman Black, will make you understand why Clint Black is considered one the top male vocalist of the 1990's.

Steve Warner, Bruce Hornsby, Waylon Jennings and Kenny Loggins also make vocal appearances. Couple at that with the remakes of No time to kill and Burn one down and you have a sure fire winner on your hands.

Up until now, all of Clint Black's studio albums have been made up of songs he had a hand in writing (that even includes his excellent Christmas release from 1995). D'lectrified finds Black expanding his musical horizons with four cover songs, a truckload of musical influences on backup, and a couple of Unplugged-inspired remakes of his own hits.

The cover tunes open the album on a low note. The Marshall Tucker Band's "Bob Away My Blues" is slicker - more big band - than the original. Waylon Jenning's "Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way" now refers to the author instead of Hank Williams and includes a guest rap from Jennings near the end. It tries oh-so-hard to be hip but instead comes across as leisure suit cool. Completely inexplicable is Black's inclusion of "The Galaxy Song" from Monty Python's Meaning Of Life - with harmonies by Eric Idle.

Much, much better are Black's new compositions that follow. "When I Said I Do" is a poignant vow of commitment with surprisingly strong harmonizing by his Hollywood temptress wife, Lisa Hartman. In contrast, Black's acoustic ballads "Where Your Love Won't Go" and "Love She Can't Do Without" deal with unsuccessful relationships, but are just as moving. Wonderfully woven in between these touching odes are the jerky grooves of "Hand In The Fire," as well as "Been There," an infectious uptempo duet with Steve Wariner that'll have your fingers snapping for hours.

The two remakes that conclude the album register a hit and a miss. "Burn One Down" offers an overly peppy melody reminiscent of the theme from The Golden Girls that contradicts its depressing yet defiant subject matter. "No Time To Kill" meanwhile works nicely with its new jazzy setting. Still, Black is a good enough songwriter that he needn't fill out an album with remakes of his old material.

D'lectrified is Clint Black's most frustrating album to date. Enclosed you'll find some of his strongest material ever. Unfortunately, it is surrounded by some of his weakest recordings - none of which are original. Write on Clint (and leave the remakes to Leann Rimes).

There seems to be different opinions on this wonderful CD by one of country's greatest talents. Don't pay any attention to the one star review on this page. It's way off base. This album is bouncy and smooth. One good, enjoyable, insanely listenable song after another. His duet with wife Lisa on "When I Said I Do", is a pretty song. Many people groan when they hear an artist is pairing up with his wife. This one works. His reworking of h8is hit song "Burn One Down" is fantastic. It's energetic and bouncy as all hell. His duet with Steve Wariner called "Been There" falls into that same category. Catchy and memorable. His recording of the silly track "The Galaxy Song" with Eric Idle, will raise some eyebrows. It's goofy fun nontheless. The final track, called "Harmony", with Kenny Loggins, is beautiful and very memorable. It also sounds like a classic Kenny Loggins song more than it does a Clint Black song. Anyways, this is another strong edition to Clint's catalog of albums. This is a must for any "true" fan.

I bought this Clint Black album for the galaxy song. Often I listen to the rest of the CD and find songs I love just as much. Well, the one after it ROCKS! I still love the Galaxy song though like a child. It's just so funny. My little sister's 5th grade class actually sang it for a music concert. Everyone thought it was cute. So, if your a big fan of country music this a CD I'd definetly check out.

Often buying an album because of one song ("When I said I do") just leads to disappointment. Not this time. Clint showed his genius on this one and I did too for purchasing it. And I agree, more Lisa next time.
