Get Better with age -& they are Floorstanding, not bookshelf,

This review is from: B & W DM604 Series II Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) (Electronics)
I have my pair of 604's and the longer you have them the better they sound. You won't find series II anymore, and the series 3 are even better! Very crisp yet rich bass without stomping out the midrange or highs. If you don't have room for a subwoofer, these speakers are perfect for Home Theater use. Otherwise, I'd recommend getting the 603's with the B&W 600 Subwoofer. Adjust the 603 speakers to music listening w/o the subwoofer, then add the subwoofer for movies. Perfect.

too much midbass emphasis, bloated midrange, unrefined highs,

This review is from: B & W DM604 Series II Bookshelf Speakers (Pair) (Electronics)
These speakers sound very boxed in and 2 dimensional. They have too much emphasis on mid bass to give illusion of low end bass which these speakers do not have. The midrange sounds bloated and the highs lack refinement. Much better speakers for the money are the Pinnacle Classic Gold Aerogels or Monitor Audio Silver 5's for even cheaper.
