This pedometer measures steps, miles, km, and calories. There is no way to calibrate for your step length so the last three measurements are averages. This is why I gave it only 4 stars. To be fair, I knew that it wouldn't have that option when I bought it, but it is a minor shortcoming.
I found the steps to be pretty accurate. I did a test of 200 steps and it was off by 6 steps. It could have been when I bent down to pick up the paper, but that's only 3%, which is 300 steps in a 10,000 step day.

I love that it has a cover and doesn't reset accidentally. The belt clip is very sturdy and won't come off. I've even carried it in the 5th pocket of my jeans and gotten great results. The way the cover comes off while it's on your belt let's you easily see your step count with out taking it off.

Instructions were not clear. Although I am "good" with gadgets, it was not easy to figure out how to open this! When I did finally open it,the information was "faded" and difficult to view.

I love my "little red pedometer". It is very interesting to see how many steps I take a day. The price is right,too!

You get what you pay for with this pedometer. It gets the calculations and counting done, although isn't very durable in itself. The clip makes it hard to wear on pants that don't have a thin band. The covering on the screen also starts to wear off after a bit and the clip doesn't stay shut that well.

I bought this product a week ago, and I just simply love this product. For the price of this small item it is accurate and so simple to use.

I have always wanted a pedometer and was anxious to receive this one. I read many reviews about many different types of pedometers and should have taken their advice. This was less expensive but seemed to offer the basic things I was looking for. I don't know if it is my inexperience or the quality of the item but it has not worked as I thought it would, is very sensitive to movement and, to me, very hard to understand how to read it.

I've been using one of these DMC-03 pedometers since 05/18/08, which speaks to its dependability. Once a week, I record my steps, press the Clear button to reset it, and I'm good for another week. I keep a spreadsheet that does all the totaling and converting for me, so one number does the trick.

The reason I give it a five-star rating is because it does one job so simply and dependably, and at such a modest price. It is featherweight, unobtrusive (mine is black, and I can wear to a black tie dinner without attracting attention), and airport friendly. It has been with me every step of the way hiking around the Sonoran Desert, the Tetons and Rockies and Adirondacks, and never missed beat.

I've probably had five or six pedometers in the past. Some have been really quite expensive. Even with tethers, they somehow get lost. They break. They are bulky and cumbersome. This little DMC-03 pedometer is perfect for my needs. It is a simple little beauty.

P.S. I originally bought three because they were so inexpensive and I'd seen a complaint about their construction. Two and a half years later, I'm still with my first -- so much for the complaint. The other two are in unused in a drawer. A few days ago, I purchased two more (red and green) and had them sent to a friend who is in physical rehab. I thought the reinforcement they provide might be helpful.

I bought three of these to share with a friend and my daughter.
I haven't asked them, but the one I was using is junk. After I know I have walked a considerable amount of steps, I check and it has only registered a few hundred steps. I happened to also have another pedometer in a pocket and it was registering the correct amount of steps. It's plastic hinge was broken but I had it inside a very small pocket on my pants. I religiously use a pedometer to make sure I walk my 10,000. Do not buy this one.

I did not find this counts your steps but rather how far in miles you have walked. For me, I wanted something that could count how many steps I have gone, so that I could try and make the 10,000 steps per day that Dr. Oz, suggest. I thought it would the type of item, that would count how many steps I have walked at work, at lunch, then cut off inbetween use, but continue after cutting back on. Instead it goes off, then starts over everytime, and for me, this is not what I purchased the item for.
