This World Cup-quality dartboard is notable for its thin, interlocking steel bands embedded in the bristles. Because the bands are so thin, the board has 10 percent more playing surface than other typical dartboards, resulting in fewer bounce-outs. The bands are sunk into the board itself and help strengthen it. High-grade sisal fibers give the board a clean appearance. The numbers on the board are made of powder-coated wire to increase their visibility. The board is 100 percent staple-free and is made in New Zealand. It measures 18 inches in diameter by 1 1/2 inches, which is regulation size.

I've been playing darts for several years now and the Bandit has been my favorite board for the last 3 or 4 of them. Our league recently changed over from the Bandit to the Winmau Blade III, and we've been getting significantly more bounce outs since we switched. The frame (recessed in both boards) seems stronger in the Bandit--the top of one of our Winmau D20s has been bent down by darts wiring out and pushing the frame inwards in only a couple months of tournament play, which makes doubling in and out much more challenging (easily fixed by rotating the board, but who wants a bent frame?). Both boards are excellent overall and I'd recommend either above others I've played on; but while the Winmau might have a more classic 'look', in terms of overall quality and function, I'd definitely give the nod to the Bandit.

My husband and I play darts every single night. We've played nearly 1,200 games this year alone, so, it goes without saying, we buy boards more frequently than the average casual player. We've been through the trials with more brands than we care to admit, and have found the DMI Bandit to be the only board worth buying. We had attempted an overlay board for longevity (As the sisal can expand in an overlay in a way it cannot in a razor wire board), but the bounceback was terrifying and not worth the few extra months. The DMI Bandit has over-achieved our expecations time and time again. We've never even had to turn the ring, we wear out the bull long before the numbers are diminished to this point. We had a board from Sports Authority, it was garbage and lasted less than a month. The overlay board lasted about 2 months before, in fear of our toes being bit by sharp darts, we kicked it to the curb. The DMI Bandits last us 4-5 months (400-600 games) and for the money, safety and satisfaction, we feel it cannot be beat.

Very few bounceouts, overall this is a very good board. When your darts are pulled from the board some type of dust seems to come out with them and can make a bit of a mess inside your case. The outer ring (with the numbers) tends to come loose and has to be re-adjusted much more often than it should. Other than that, the board performs as expected, and as I said with very few bounceouts.

this is my first bristle board, so i don't have much knowledge for comparison, but i would definitely reccommend it. the wires are super thin and are white to help visibility. due to the thin wires, i can't remember the last time i had a bounce out. after a year, it still plays really well. i did have to modify the back stops a bit so that it would stay tight against the wall and thus remain quiet.

A group of friends and I have used a few electronic soft-tip boards with the plastic face with little holes--you know the kind I'm talking about, right? Well we decided to go for this bristle board after reading the claims that bounce-outs are virtually eliminated and that you can use bristle boards with soft OR steel tips. We all found this board a little frustrating. ...that is, until we made the switch to steel. Oh, it's a beautiful thing now! Bounce outs are indeed very few and far between. Now if I could just throw a bit more consistently... ;)

PROS:
Spider is very thin and bounce-outs are very rare
Darts are easy to pull back out after your throw
The number ring can be pulled off and rotated so that the board wears more evenly
Unless you play a WHOLE LOT, you aren't going to need to rotate the number ring because the board doesn't wear out very quickly at all

CONS:
If you hit the inner bull spider, you may knock it out of skew a little. This is easy to fix, though, so it isn't a big deal (just don't hurt your fingers by pressing on it too hard--it is sharp!)

Overall, a great board--no complaints. Recommended!

I've been using my board heavily for the last 2 months and the board is excellent. I've had only 1 bounce out. The board is holding together very nicely, no staples and very thin spider make this a great board. I'm sold on this one for the future as well as the friends that come over to play on it.

I have played on many boards and this is one of my favorites. The bristles are tight and the lack of staples on the rings keeps shots from flying off the board.

I really like it.

I was sold on the Winmau Blade III, until I met the Bandit. Hands down the best board on the market. The entire board is virtually flush, all of the wires are en-grained inside the bristles. You can no longer use bounce outs as an excuse :)
