DMSO really works!,
By MetaCynic (Chicago) - See all my reviews
This review is from: DMSO: Nature's Healer (Paperback)
The healing power of DMSO discussed in this book is no exaggeration. I've been using DMSO on and off for exercise related injuries since 1983. It really works.
Depending on where it's applied, sometimes the skin will burn and itch for about 15 minutes and look like a bad sunburn afterward. This is temporary and harmless. On other places I will feel almost no sensation. It's especially effective on a fresh tissue injury. Since it quickly penetrates the skin and enters the blood stream, within a few minutes of application there is always a fishy taste in my mouth. One social side effect of frequent use is that the user will emit a fishy smell! This is a small price to pay for those in chronic pain. At least for me, the pain killing effect of DMSO is uneven. Sometimes it will kill the pain completely, other times the effect is partial. But it always does something. Unlike prescription painkillers, DMSO's effect is cumulative. The more frequently one uses it, the less one needs. The least irritating delivery system is DMSO combined with aloe vera gel. The deodorant type applicator is too messy. It's unfortunate that mainstream medicine has shunned this inexpensive, safe and extremely effective healer in favor of expensive, addictive and dangerous prescription drugs.

I got the book after I got the DMSO, which I found out about via a Jenny McCarthay book where she mentioned some "Mother Warrior" used it to help her autistic kid. I found an article on the net that said vitamin B12 and folic acid could be dissolved in DMSO and then applied to the skin for good absorption to cure anemia, and another article on how DMSO can cure colitis and I was hooked.
This book doesn't mention either of those treatmens using DMSO and there are a lot more exciting possibilities like using DMSO to get GABA supplements across the blood brain barrier that it doesn't touch, but the information in it is fascinating. I read the book in a day, couldn't put it down. It was very clear for a medical layman. Basically it's a summary of a lot of research done on DMSO with a section in the beginning on what it is and how they think it works on the body. Some of the research summarized that I found interesting are the use of it within 90 min of a spinal cord injury preventing paralysis, the way it can be used on burn victims to prevent infection, numb pain, and promote healing, and the treatment of infants with Down's Syndrome to help them reach their potential and prevent some of the genetic effects it can cause. The book also covers (briefly with no conspiracy theories) why the FDA has shut down research on this drug that was once labeled a breakthrough new medicine by them, and why doctors can't tell us about it or recommend it without fear of losing their license. I used it for a week and my ganglion cyst completely disappeared, an unexpected but welcome side-effect!

DMSO a pain killer,

DMSO: Nature's Healer is a great book of facts and lab test from the late 60's. There's not much info on DMSO on the internet or anywhere else to my knowledge. This book is informative enough for the average minded person, maybe not for a slow learner.
I have used DMSO myself and find that its best benefit is a pain killer. I smashed and cut my pinky toe with a hair dryer (fell off the counter). The pain was so intense I started going into shock. I was bleeding profusely. My husband helped me get stabilized. I had never used the DMSO on an open cut before but I tried it. I applied a weak solution (about 20% DMSO) and within minutes the pain stopped completely. I was astonished, I still am. The cut stopped bleeding and closed, yes it closed. All swelling went down and the blackish color of my toe faded to pink. Two weeks later it still hurts if poked at but I've walked without a limp since it happened. I sprayed the injury 1/2 dozen times after the initial accident and all is well. I ALWAYS make sure the area I use it is as clean as possible. It's amazing that DMSO is nothing more than tree juice! Try it, it beats getting a staph infection at the local ER.

Don't let the naysayers discourage you from reading this book or others like it.
The multibillion dollar drug companies have not cured anything. They profit on illness and other side effects from their drugs. There are many natural ways to take care of your health. Just keep reading, help is out there.

It works but you'll be stinky & unsociable,

This review is from: DMSO: Nature's Healer (Paperback)
It did work & it was great having NO pain/ stiffness all week after drinking it & applying all over my body (w/ MMS). But it was awful having my husband, who has a BAD nose, tell me my breath was terrible, the whole room would stink. He said it smelled kind of like a decaying smell, which is odd because DMSO has a garlic smell to it. He'd be opening doors & windows... we couldn't kiss for a week! And I can just imagine all the poor people I had socialized w/ that week... how embarrassing!
The DMSO book does have a super honest testimonial that mentions the same problem, but the amazon reviews have failed to reflect such thoroughness or honesty. I wanted to leave an honest review, because when I was spending all kinds of time reviewing reviews... I did not see this mentioned much, if at all, certainly not to this extent. But... it does work!! You just have to decide if it's worth it for you & your level of pain. And use lots of breath & body freshener!! ?? (Freezing temp of DMS is 68 degrees, so expect it to be frozen when it arrives in the winter mail.) ;-)

better than others,
This review is from: DMSO: Nature's Healer (Paperback)
Compared to other books on this subject this was above average. I liked the writing, it didn't get bogged down in the science as so many do.
If you're really into the subject matter - and i mean rEALLY into it - then this book is the best of the lot that I've read.

A very insightful book that gives me a better understanding of the product and its value to the human body in combating disease.I hope this book will open the minds of people to understanding that diseases can be overcome and there are cures for ailments that the establishment says there isn't. Used properly DMSO can help a great deal of suffering in this world.

An interesting read.
I purchased this when I purchased a bottle of DMSO liquid. I recommend reading this before purchasing or using the liquid as the book describes usage and what to expect from various strength applications etc. I got some useful information from this book. I notice there is another book offered by Amazon about DMSO which may also be helpful prior to using this alternative healing substance. |
