I used to get so stressed just trying to take out my contact lenses, it would take forever to do, even after I had trimmed my finger nails. But now I can keep my nails long and insert and remove my contact lenses within a few seconds and usually on my first try. Before, it could take up to 10 tries manually before I was able to do this. I've tried other aids but the DMV Soft Lens Handler is the easiest to use and most comfortable on my eyes. No more bloodshot eyes for me!

I have used this product for the last few months and it works great. It took a few days to get use to it, but now I can have both contacts out in under 30 seconds. The hardest part is just getting use to how to hold and position it. Once you figure that out, it is great. One thing I did learn was to make sure the gripper end is dry. If it is wet, it does not grab the contact as good. I have not used the one end that is for inserting your contact since I did not have a problem putting them in, just getting them out.
Things to remember when using it. 1) Dry gripper end(picture of product shows the end that is used for inserting a contact, remover is the one that is split in two) 2) Grip the thing as close to the ends possible 3) Align the end so that it makes contact across the entire gripper, not just one end/side or the other 4) Do not pinch the end until after you have made contact with your eye and then press slightly, then pinch. I think most people that have problems with this think the contact is just going to magically jump out of there eye and onto the gripper, this is not a suction cup. You have to make contact and press the gripper against the contact and then squeeze with your fingers positions close to the end of the gripper or it will not work.

I may be slow at times but I thought you removed your lens using the same end that you use to insert lens. I thought there was some kind of suction effect that I just couldn't work out. I went to the DMV website and saw the OTHER end had the gripper pads for removing the lens. Now I think this is a great little tool!

I am 46 and have never worn glasses or contacts until recently. After a week of frustration trying to get the contacts in my eyes, I was ready to give up. I searched the Internet for something to help insert the lenses and came up with the DMV Lens Handler. Now I can get the lenses in without any problems. If it weren't for this product, I wouldn't be able to wear contacts. I wish my eye doctor had known about these when I first got my contacts. It would have saved me hours of frustration and some very sore eyes.

works really well,

I bought this based on the reviews here. This is much easier and gentler
than using my hands to remove my soft contacts. I also like it for inserting my contacts because I don't have to worry about lint (from towel drying after washing hands).

At last I can remove soft lenses without destroying them after three or four days. That gets to be kind of expensive. This device takes a few days to get used to, but when you do it makes removing your lenses so much more pleasant without scraping and damaging your cornea.

I recently started wearing contact lenses and I could insert them with a limited degree of success and removal was very difficult with my long fingernails. I scratched my eyes several times. I was about to give up on contacts all together until I found this product. It took me a few times to learn how to insert the lens, but I was able to remove the lens easily the first time I tried. I could not imagine ever using my fingers to insert or remove my contacts ever again. I highly recommend this product.

I have had difficulty getting my soft lenses in by hand. This little item really does help. Often I can get them in on the first try with this compared to half a dozen or more tries with my fingers.

I am new to contacts and I am just not comfortable putting my fingers into my eyes to remove the lens. I am still practicing using this item but I can now remove my lens under 2 minutes now. Before it would take me 30 minutes to an hour for both eyes. Here are some tips that work for me:
First of all, make sure you are using the correct end of the product. One end is for inserting the lens and the other is to remove them. Hold your upper eye lid in place as usual and slowly move the pinchers towards your eye so your eye won't become "starled" and you won't have the urge to blink. Once you feel it on your eye, look towards your nose. This will help break the "seal" the contact lens has on your eye due to the difference in curvature. After that, slowly pinch on the lens and slowly pull it away from your eye and the lens should be inbetween the pinchers. If the product doesn't seem to be working, don't be afraid to apply a little more pressure on your eyeball just before you pinch. It won't hurt you since your contact lens are there. There is no need to push really hard on your eyeball but I think the reason this doesn't work for some people is that they push too lightly so the product can't get a good grip or they don't try to look towards their nose after the product makes contact with the lens. And finally, this product seems to work better if the pincher end is dry. Dry it off on a clean cloth if it gets wet. I like to wash it with gentle soap that won't harm rubber and air dry after every use. I can't comment on how well it works on inserting lens because I find it better to use my finger. Good luck and I hope this item works well for you.

Great item!!!
Now I'm able to put my contact lenses very fast and without hurting my eyes. And removing them is even easier. I was going to quit wearing contact lenses. sometimes I spend 1/2 hour trying to get one contact in with my fingers. now I'm able to do it in the 1st or 2nd try. Excellent product, I would recommend it to everyone. |
