2.0 out of 5 stars contact remover
Must be very careful when removing contact lens. I suggest you talk to your eye doctor first before purchase.

This thing works! I was having a terrible time removing my new hard contact lenses -- to the point I dreaded putting them in because I knew that ment I would eventually have to take them out. At one point I struggled so much removing one of the lenses that I scratched my cornia and couldn't wear the lenses for a week. I almost gave up, but decided to make one last ditch effort to wear contacts. I ordered this Ultra Hard Lens Plunger, and it worked. The very first time. It is insanely easy to use; I've never had a problem removing my contact lenses since. I can honestly that never in my life have I been more (pleasantly) surprised by how drastic a difference one simple product has made in a task.

These things are small and (relatively) cheap. I now have six, scattered between home, work, my briefcase, and the car. I wouldn't take the chance of not having one handy. It makes that much difference. If you have any trouble removing your contact lenses, it is definately worth the four bucks they cost to try one of these for yourself.

FYI: For those of you who do try it out, the method I use is to "drag" my contact lense to the corner of my eye with my finger, and "plungering" the lense to pop it out from there. You have to hold your eye open wide to remove the lense with this method, but it removes that strange sensation of directing the plunger straight toward your eyeball (and line of sight).

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a good guinea pig for this one..., September 3, 2010

Many years ago I had lasik surgery that went very bad. I was totally blind for 6 months and was told I'd never be able to see again. My left eye actually remained that way for 5 years but through a series of 5 surgeries and implants, I see fine now with special lenses...at least during the day time.

The only way I see now is that I have special lenses that were recently developed that basically squeeze onto my eye. Where others have soft or hard contacts that rest on the surface, mine suck down to the eye to smooth it out.

So I can't just pop out my contacts.

While this device makes removing hard contact lenses easy for any wearer, a true test of how easily they remove them is with my crazy contacts that have to be pulled to be removed.

Some hard contact lens removers just don't have much suction...these do.

Unfortunately, the negative of these for me is they are so tiny and I always lose them so I ordered some spares. They are colored to make them easy to find if your contacts are cloudy or whatever...they work fine, they came in a small plastic case. I've had no issues with them (I ordered 3 since I'm so darn bad about losing them. Don't ask me how. I have no idea.)

I assume anyone ordering these may have used them before, but if not...you just hold open your eyelid and rest this on the surface of the lens and it will grab the lens so you can remove it.

I know others who use them just so they don't handle the lens with their hands to avoid bacteria, or they are squeemish about removing a lens...for me, I have no other way to remove these contacts so I can say if they remove mine easily, they'll remove any others...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Invention For Preventing Ptosis, By Far!, October 31, 2010
This review is from: DMV ULTRA Hard Contact Lens Remover (Health and Beauty)
I have enjoyed wearing RGP contacts for over 20 years. I actually never had any problems removing my contacts using the traditional "eyelids stretch/pulling" method. Over the years, however, I developed ptosis (droopy eyelids) partially due to the constant stretching of the eyelids. After having eyelid muscle surgery, my dr told me that the only way he would recommend resuming contact lens wear is for me to purchase a remover. I had never heard of this. Now I have one and I am truly pleased. No more stretching/pulling my eyelids and it is really easy to use. Bravo!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Grea Procuct!, May 9, 2009

I wasn't using my hard contact lenses because of the great difficulty I was having removing them, and the worry that I might lose them when they finally "popped" out. The "DMV Ultra" was recommended by my eye doctor's assistant. With this device the removal from the very start has been a cinch. It is easy, simple, quick and painless. I bought several of the "DMV Ultra" suction devices to always have one nearby. Great Product. I highly recommend this product.

Don't know why eye Drs don't give these out with firm contacts. So much easier to remove (I have no problem with the insertion). This seller represented the product fairly and shipped quickly.

Best product. I don't know what I would do without it. I purchased 5 so I could have them all around. It's so easy to take the contact out using this product.

I'm giving 4 stars cause I use the thing ALL the time. I could never get used to popping my hard contact lenses out with my eyelid, trying to grab the contact, or whatever other way my Optometrist recommended trying.

Personally, I think it's a little pricey for one, but it was worth the comfort of not having to put my finger any closer to my eye than I have to. It definitely works and I bought a few just in case I lost one.
