The Best CD You've Never Heard!, February 7, 2006
This review is from: D'Molls (Audio CD)
After graduating high school in '87, I hopped in a car with a couple of friends and drove from Salt Lake City to California for a graduation road trip. One of the nights we were there, we managed to sneak into a bar somewhere in Orange County. That particular night, it just happened to be an album release party for some band called D'Molls. We didn't know who they were, nor did we care. Being from Salt Lake, we were just happy to be in a bar.
Then the band played. The club was small, but they played as if it were an arena. That was almost twenty years ago.
Musically, D'Molls captured everything good about the '80's glam rock scene, which looking back now wasn't much, but they did it. The powerful songs are hard driving, and the ballads are thoughtful and non-formulaic. One of my favorite songs has always been "D'Stroll". The composition and guitar work through the CD is awesome and the vocals are fluid and catchy.
D'Molls is unique, so it's difficult to describe their sound other than to say they are a bit like Cheap Trick if you turned the intensity up to eleven. Sorry, that's the best I could come up with...
From what I was told, D'Molls never hit big because the record label decided to put all their money into Winger. Even if they would have hit, their success probably would have been short lived as grunge pretty much sealed the coffin of the glam scene.
I'm guessing from the $50 price tag that this CD is out of print. But if you can pick it up, or know a guy who knows a guy who has it, give it a listen.
I think that D'Molls should reform and tour with Hanoi Rocks, the GREATEST unknown band of all time!

It's a shame most don't know this one.If your a fan of glam/sleaze this
would do well in your collection. Not 5 stars, but does have some good songs
777,I think is the best.It has hooks and guitars that mix well with the
great beat.Dressed to thrill is cool also, and all I want is very catchy.
I'd rather listen to this then some of the crud that's on the radio.buy
this it's worth having.
