I really hate to give such a bad review, but this item has earned it. If I could I would have given it a negative 5 star rating! Remember making a pinhole camera in grade school? Well now you know the abilities of this camcorder. In daylight shooting, everything has a purple tint. In night vision mode, if you're more that about 18 inches from your subject, just shut off the camera because you won't see anything anyway. I even bought the Phantom Lite external IR light, which has capabilities to almost 60 feet and I still only got images from about 3 feet, then total darkness. The battery lasts about 20 minutes, after cycling it through about five full charges and discharges. No website for support, supplied driver to use this for a webcam does not work with Windows 7, after three uses, the HDMI out port stopped functioning! Needless to say it's on it's way back to Amazon for a full refund.
DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA.

I really like this unit. It's a little on the small size for someone with big hands. Easy to use. The camera is really 5mp, interpolated to 12mp. The zoom only works for stills, not video. The IR source is a little weak for outdoors use, but is as advertised. That being said, the unit is easy to use and produces good images. It comes with all cables needed. I was surprised with the image quaility when played back on a large LCD TV. I would recomend this, The extra SD slot and dual power option are cool, as is the IR mode. If you have teenagers in the house you might need two of them, Really big hit with them. Is it my turn yet?

The main issue is that under any light except florescent light, the image on video and still camera turns everything purple or blue. Simple example: In my kitchen with florescent light, Blacks come out black and browns come out brown. In the living room under normal incandescent light bulbs my Dark Brown couch is bright purple. I took some video of my friends band and they looked like blue Smurfs on stage. I reset the camera to defaults and still same issue. I really think mine came with a defective ambient light sensor or something. Also, not all the commands or buttons work plugged into my TV with the HDMI cable. I have to start the video I want from the LCD then plug it into the TV and if I even try and fast forward or pause with the buttons it does all kinds of crazy things. There was no instructions on how to playback even when plugged into HDMI. The good side is that the video is not bad in 720p. You cannot use the zoom if in 1080p, I'm guessing it's all digital zoom and no optical? It is very small and lightweight, which is nice. I really haven't seen any issue with the battery as of yet. The infrared is cool, and if you're complaining about the distance for night vision, then you need to invest in a bigger IR light to connect. You can't expect much from that little IR light. Every ghost hunter knows to have a powerful IR light if you want to see all the way down a hallway. I called support and am sending it in. They were very helpful at 1 -800-647-2290 and have promised to rush me back a new camera and reimburse me for my shipping to them. If I get a replacement camera and all is well then I'd say you get a pretty good product for the price. The dual 32GB SD card slots are nice, just don't let stores upsale you on SD10 cards, because the SD4 card I used worked just fine.

Phenomenal 1080p Camcorder. Works in total darkness with the IR (infrared) mode. Takes either the supplied NP-40 lithium rechargeable batteries, or standard AA batteries. Also has 2 SD card slots = 64gb maximum total removable memory. The touchscreen is also a breeze to use. Very clear picture. Nice, sturdy, and firm build quality. Very impressed.

great size. works good. clear video. easy to transfer to dvd. holds 2 memory cards for longer recording. love it so far.

I love this camera. I got it for my wife for Christmas, because she wanted a simple little video camera to take videos of our grandkids, and she uses it all the time. It's a great way to capture the memories of our grandkids growing up. It's small enough that she can carry it around in her purse without being weighed down too much, and it's simple enough that we can use it without much dificulty. We're not every technology advanced, so we just use the basic features of this video camera and it works perfectly. It also takes still shots, so we're able to use this as a video camera and a regular digital camera. I would recommend this for people of all ages who want a video camera. Plus, it was a really good price, and well worth the cost.

I use this for ghost hunting. I particularly like the multi shot feature which takes about 15 shots at once. I have already caught a ghostly apparition with it.The IR works during the day also which is useful for capturing ghost in daylite.The IR at nite is weak but works great during daylite hours to see in that invisible lite realm.

its not to bad, id give it more stars if it wasnt for the short battery life, even with AA its very short, no problems that ive found with video, great picture and sound quality sound, havent touch the night vision yet gonna to a separate review on that, i feel it deserves its own, being that it could make or break my opinion of the camera. zoom works, not alot of zoom but wat do u really expect from a wide lens, stills are fantastic as well, u can take a picture at any time as long as your not shooting video. all around for my first video camera its not bad, like i said more stars for long battery life

I have not used it much yet, but it is fairly easy to use and not bad for the money. You can't see across a field as with good night vision goggles, but it is good for short distances - rooms that are not too large. I use it to assist me in my ghost hunting, and I have better IR cameras, but this is portable and priced well. I am satisfied with it.

It is a nice little camera with night shot, but even with extra IR illumination the battery's life is very short. Is it worth it for the money - no - it doesn't even have a lens cover.
