Product Description

NEW TURBO RESONATOR ELIMINATOR. This replacement resonator fits 2004 & 2006 Dodge, Mercedes Benz and Freightliner Sprinter, equipped with 2.7L diesel engine. NEVER BE LEFT STRANDED EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!! This new CNC machined billet aluminum Eliminator is designed to last the life of the vehicle in a hot, high pressure and vibration rich environment, giving you the peace of mind to take your Sprinter anywhere without worry about a turbo resonator failure. You bought your Sprinter because it was and is the very best chassis in the world for your needs. Now you can make it even better! FAQs Frequently Asked Questions Q. What is a turbo resonator? A. It is a device used on the 2.7 liter Mercedes Benz turbo diesel engine to slightly lessen the intake whine of the turbocharger. Q. What exactly is this turbo resonator failure problem I have been hearing about on the Sprinter and Freightliner van chassis? A. A typical turbo resonator failure happens under a period of maximum boost either climbing a hill or accelerating off a stop light with a load in the vehicle. The resonator is made up of injection molded plastic parts which are bonded together. The failure results from the parts separating from each other and allowing turbo boost air to escape from the intake system. Q. What happens when the Sprinter turbo resonator fails? A. The boost sensor sends a low pressure signal to the engine's computer which thinks there has been a catastrophic failure of the turbo. The vehicle immediately goes into "limp home" mode which results in a nearly total loss of ability to climb hills and a top speed on flat ground of about 35 to 40 mph. This usually results in having the vehicle towed in for repair. In addition, the check engine light comes on. If our Eliminator is installed after a failure, the check engine light should go off after a few starting cycles.

FIRST LET ME SAY I NEEDED TO GET THIS VAN FIXED
I WAS HOPING DUE TO THIS DEALER BEING ON THE EAST COAST THAT SHIPPING WOULD BE ON TIME AND QUICK - IT WAS NOT AND I SHOULD HAVE JUST PAID A LITTLE MORE AND SPENT MY MONEY WITH THEM NICE FOLKS OUT WEST IN SPRINTER LAND AND WILL NEXT TIME.
THE PART IS AVALIBLE FROM MANY SOURCES.
this is a great responce to the resonator box comming apart during trips
or daily driving. i looked at the resonator while a friend worked the pedel
trying to see if this was my van going into safe limp mode and could'nt see anything but a little flex and no air comming out
after i removed my old resonator and looked for any signs i went to home depot
and picked up a few plubing rubber pipe connectors to slice to the
other hoseing for the sencor on the intake side. then i place the hose to the air compresser and presto air leaking at the seams,
after changing this out for the new design my van is restored to working order
the mileage has returned 5mpg more

No more angst about failure of the original plastic eliminator which only last somewhere between 25000 and 35000 miles. I am looking forward to many more miles of worry-free driving.

After a road trip from LA to Vegas in "limp mode", which I didn't know about at the time. I had a oil change and fuel filter change done, hoping it would help on the way back, no such luck, I "limped" all the way back to LA. When I got back, I started researching the problem and came across this. I have never reviewed any product, nor had I ever worked on my Sprinter, or any car before. It took about 15 minutes to fix, my resonator had a crack in it, and I am back on the road again. I didn't believe it when I bought it, but worth every cent!!

This item enabled me to keep on going when the stock turbo resonator started to leak air - causing the engine to revert to limp home mode. I was able to change the faulty resonator and substitute the new one in a gas station parking lot. I got a little dirty in the process, but the van ran fine for the rest of the trip from Orlando to Kansas City. A real lifesaver. Without this part I would have been stranded.

We are happy travelers in our 2007 Winnebago View (just turned 70,000 miles) accompanied by our two standard Poodles who also love to travel. We were worried about our MB 5 cyl Diesel the first time the turboresonator blew a hole causing an extreme loss of power, and some nervous moments crawling along the Interstate to get back to a Sprinter mechanic. The second and third times were not quite as nerve wracking but by the next time, we had purchased a solid aluminum bolt-on substitute (in case it happened again). We blew our 4th as we coasted into a small town in Georgia where a local mechanic looked at the instruction sheet that comes with the part and he had the old one off and the new one in place in 20 minutes. I could have done it myself 30 yrs ago but was happy to pay for the service. We are very happy now though the solid tube doesn't dampen the turbine whine at high rpms the way the original equipment did. It's barely noticeable to my wife who has much better hearing than I do.

I was satisfied with the speed of service, but I hope I do not need another of these for a long time.
