3.0 out of 5 stars Good case if your priority is asthetics., July 20, 2011
This review is from: DODOcase for iPad 2 (Red) (Personal Computers)
The case looks great. If that is what you're looking for then you will love this case. If you are looking for functionality you might find yourself wanting.
The case does work as a stand, however, it is designed to look like a book. Take a hard cover book and bend it over backwards to stand it up. How easy is it for the edge of the cover to slip and cause the book to fall flat on the table? Same with the case.
I can get the case to stand up on it's own but if I touch the iPad it falls. It works great if you have something behind it to stop it from sliding.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love the product but..., October 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DODOcase for iPad 2 (Red) (Personal Computers)
After looking into the plethora of cases out in the market for the iPad 2, I finally decided on the dodocase. I've had the case for several weeks and have gotten a lot of compliments on it from classmates. I've been pleased with the product but now am beginning to question its effectiveness, reliability and it's integrity.

I have recently began to notice small tiny tears of the red cover on the spine when the case is flipped. This could be due to the stretching of the fibers but you'd think this wouldn't, occur since its the primary method of using it to type with.

Secondly, I've notice that my pad no longer sits snug into the bamboo encase ment. The bumpers provided do not have a substantial life span; they tend to sink into the groove on the bamboo causing the iPad to lose contact with them allowing the pad to easily fall out without hesitation. Pretty much, in other words, it loses it's grip on the iPad.

While these are minute details, these are details that make me reconsider if the cost of $60 is really worth the quality of the product. With having this product for only several weeks and to not see it holdup to the potential the dodocase website states, I questions whether I soon will be in search once again for a more reliable case that will hold my pad in place while adding the much needed protection we require for such a delicate product.

2/5 update...

Lowered rating from 4 stars to 2.

Since I first purchased my case about 5 months ago, I have had two replacements; I'm now on my third. The reason? The bamboo encase ment is poor quality. On both of my cases, the bamboo has split. After e-mailing customer service, their response was something to the effect of them being fragile. If you keep it in a book bag or something of some sort, these things will happen is What they said. They've been very good at replacing it, although, before replacing it the second time, they suggested using glue to fix the issue. I mean that is a fix, but a cheap fix at the cost of a $60 product. All in all the case is beautiful and unique. Unless someone starts to market a protection case for your dodo, don't expect this thing to last.

In the meantime, Im on the search for a new case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does what every other case does, but w/ style!, July 14, 2011
This review is from: DODOcase for iPad 2 (Red) (Personal Computers)
This case does what any case purports - protects your $500+ tablet from dings/scratches. Where it differentiates, and why I bought one, was because of how cool it looks.

Style:
I just love the idea of taking a sophisticated mini-computer like the iPad and wrapping it up in what looks and feels like an hardcover book. When you hold the DODOcase, you immediately notice that it feels handmade. Not the case (pun intended) when comparing against most others on the market, especially those offered for sale in the Apple Store.

Functionality:
Easy to take it out and put it in, though I hardly ever use it 'naked' anymore. Really love that you can open it all the way to slant the iPad for typing, or can open it halfway to prop up for watching videos.

Summary:
Get one. It makes holding an iPad fun, and certainly sets you apart from all those other people who wrap their iPads in generic, boring cases.
