This would be the greatest thing if only it still worked! Only worked one day and then it would only record for less than a second and then shut off. I did everything they tell you to do... deleted the videos to make room for new ones, charged the battery and reset it many times trying to get it to work again. So I am exchanging it with Amazon for another one, no questions asked so I'm getting it in two days (Amazon Prime). So if that one stays working I'm giving it a 4 or 5 star. Maybe I got a lemon?

I have to say- loved the night vision feature. Not the BEST quality but pretty good for the size of the camera. Also I thought the audio was alright as well, not great but it worked. And I really liked that you can fast forward 2x, 4x, and 8x the speed while still watching to speed it up while they sleep, etc... It does also have a motion detected mode which I didn't get a chance to use before it stopped working. This was the only cat video camera I could find at this price with night vision. There was one at $300 but $99 is already pushing it for me.

Also I think this is about the smallest of all the pet cameras I could find in this price range.

UPDATE:

I got the camera to work... the problem was that I wasn't deleting the trash from the computer while the Eyenimal was plugged into it. After I started not only deleting the videos off the disk (after saving them into my documents), but ALSO deleting the trash right after.... then the camera recognized it was empty and had all the memory back so it could record. I got this info by posting a question for this product on the amazon review page (I posted the question on the Eyenimal for dogs by mistake but they're basically the same, just this one is smaller). So now I am very happy with this product.

I bought this camera to find out how my dog manages to escape our back yard. Jack Russell's are escape artists... Anyway, this camera worked just as described with really good picture quality and the IR lens really does a great job filtering the sunlight and bright spots outside in the yard from light washout, however.... the camera only lasted about 3 days. in order for the camera to work now, is a combination of pressing the reset button on the back of the camera and plugging it into the computer, unplugging it, pressing power, push the reset button... for $99, I expected this camera to work a little longer than a couple days. The only reason I gave it two stars, is because it actually does work the way it is described. It just doesn't say for how long, and second, we found where and how our little Houdini was escaping.

I wanted so badly for this to work, the camera seems good quality and the concept is awesome. Unfortunately, one of my cats was convinced I was trying to kill him while trying to fit this on his collar. The other patiently let me put it on her, and then crab walked quickly down the hallway, leapt sideways a few times, and then hid in a corner and refused to move. I think this would work better with a dog... Oh well, at least I got a couple of Blair Witch style videos out of it.

I received this gift as an unexpected party present and put it to use on my cat. He's an active tom who prefers to be outdoors, and weights in at 11-12 pounds. So a mature but not excessively large kitty. The camera is fairly light - I didn't weigh it but it's about the size and weight of a golf ball. Probably not suitable for kittens, puppies, or small cats but otherwise it's very do-able.

I purchased a standard break-away collar and fastened the camera to it, then put it on the cat. As you might guess, he wasn't all that happy about it but instead of sitting around sulking, he took off on an adventure lasting the better part of an hour, after which he came home and let me retrieve the camera.

Wow. I mean, wow. In the first ten minutes of the video I discovered:

A) One of the places he hangs out during the day when he disappears. (Mostly in my neighbor's semi-abandoned back yard and fruit orchard.)

B) There's an indoor cat in the neighborhood that he likes to tease by 'boxing' with it while they're separated by a patio glass door.

C) He has a secret second life where a kind neighbor down the block puts out water and food for him. Nice to know that if I ever die in a plane crash or something that he'll do just fine.

I must say that this was endlessly entertaining and I'll be updating my rating depending on if this unit is as fragile/easy to break as some reviewers claim. Also, I have yet to use this at night so when I do, I'll post an update.

OK, some pros and cons before this gets too long:

PROS:

1) Reasonably light-weight. I'd say this unit is fine for animals over 10 pounds; that should cover about half of the cats out there and 90% of the dogs.

Very interesting. I use this on a Swiss Mountain dog and a Treeing Walker Coon Hound. If that doesn't speak for the camera's toughness I don't know what could.
