Japanese only SHM paper sleeve pressing. The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing, SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc, allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best CDs you've never heard, July 20, 2000
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
Don't Come Easy was one of those CDs I stumbled upon... well, actually my cousin did. He picked it up after seeing the video for "Forever Young", and played the disc for me one weekend. I've been hooked ever since... and DCE remains one of my favorite CDs. Tyketto was one of those bands who just didn't get the break they needed. If DCE was released one year earlier there is no doubt in my mind they would have been huge... but unfortunately the market was already saturated by the time they released this. DCE is solid rock, with heavy harmony and guitars. Danny Vaughn's, former lead singer of Waysted, voice is one of the best you'll hear, and each song is well written. "Wings", "Nothing But Love", "Strip Me Down", "Burning Down Inside" will satisfy your need for rock, and "Standing Alone" will quickly become one of your favorite ballads. It's a tragedy Geffen didn't know how to market this band. If you like straight-up rock 'n' roll, you owe it to yourself to purchase DCE. While you're at it, buy lead singer Danny Vaughn's new CD Soldiers and Sailors on Riverside. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars The absolute best voice in all of music, March 24, 2005
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
Aside from that there is a bunch of great songs that show true passion. I just love this guy Danny Vaungh's voice. He combines the heart of Jack Russell, the Talent of James Labrie, the vibrato of Ronnie James Dio and the smarts of Jon Bon Jovi.

As for the songs. There is not too much to say other than the fact there there is ten of the best songs from 1991 that you may not have ever heard. Well writen and well played. The opening "Forever Young" is one of those story songs in the stlye of Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer" with just more flare. The next track "Wings" is a treat. Standing Alone, the records ballad is jammed packed with raw emotion

I hate to waste the whole album by telling all there is to tell. Buy this CD and you will have a unknown classic if there ever was one

5.0 out of 5 stars Melodic Rock Masterpiece, August 8, 2006
This review is from: Don't Come Easy (Audio CD)
Of all the bands that were unjustly overlooked in the early 1990's, none deserved the spotlight more than Tyketto. The band's debut album Don't Come Easy was an AOR/melodic rock masterpiece, embodying everything good about that style of music, and should have vaulted the band into the same arena as bands like Damn Yankees, Bad English, Firehouse, and Giant. Instead they went largely unnoticed.

Released in 1991, Don't Come Easy grabs you from the first song and doesn't let go. This is first class AOR all the way, led by Danny Vaughn (ex-Waysted) and his amazing voice. He has such a warm and powerful voice that I would consider as one of the best in the business.

With a couple of exceptions, the songs on Don't Come Easy are extremely well written. I don't care for the Warrant-esque Lay Your Body Down or Strip Me Down, but the rest of the album is close to perfection. In fact, every song on the album's first side could have been hit singles. They would have if the band had received the attention they deserved, at any rate.

Don't Come Easy remains not only the best Tyketto album, but one of the better AOR/melodic rock albums of that era. If you enjoy the bands listed above, or old-school AOR acts like Journey and Foreigner, you're definitely going to want to add this to your collection. It's not cheap, but sometimes the best things "don't come easy."
