This is my third order of the flat bar blades. I intend to etch them with my club logo to give as prizes. I have noticed that the blades seem to be from one or two sources. Both are stainless steel and of the same style, but that is where the similarities end.
One type is labeled as being made in China, has a smoother finish with finer sanding marks, seems to be more uniformly and finely constructed, and with a sleeker design. Product is packaged in plastic sleeves with sticker on the plastic sleeve, not the product itself. (Labeled: H SLBO002 Bar code numbers: 7 89313 24731 8) The other type is labeled as made in India. This one has a more coarsely sanded appearance with less apparent effort to produce a higher quality finish. The cap remover lips of the opener slot are a bit crudely formed, and the overall appearance is less pleasing than the Chinese made counterpart. The most annoying thing about this item is that the product labels are affixed directly to the opener and require some solvent and elbow grease to remove completely. (Labeled: UPDATE BO-7f Bar code numbers: 7 55576 00973 4) Given the cost of the items, I shouldn't be too critical of the appearance. I am somewhat surprised however, that there would be such a visible difference between two similarly priced items from different countries. If given the option, I would choose the Chinese made items hands down.
