I recently bought this locally for a canoe camping trip. On our 2nd day we got caught in a tree and flipped. Water was moving fairly fast. I had the camera in this bag hooked to my life vest. I went completely under water, then had to guide the upturned canoe full of gear to a nearby gravel bar to dump the water, etc. I remember the thing being tossed around pretty good during this time. As soon as we were under control I even took several pictures. My only gripe is that bag is a little large for our little Nikon S51, but it's still worth it. It can be hard to position it with the bag tight against the lens. Here's an extra tip: I'm glad I had it hooked to my vest and not just around my neck. Although I was wearing a sun hat w/ chin strap (which I didn't lose either), it could've floated up off of me and been lost.

I took this on a trip to Hawaii. It worked fine snorkeling at the surface (I did not dive with this thing) for 3 outings into near-shore snorkeling. However, on the third day of use, I found my camera unresponsive. The case had filled with water & ruined a $200 camera.

The manufacturer had told me this was usable to a depth of 15 feet. Well, yes, it is... unless it leaks.

In summary, it's good to protect the camera when near water. It should work (if you are cautious to check it often) for snorkeling. Just be aware that it will likely eventually let you down. For the price, it may be worth trying. Considering the price of cameras, you may want to take the risk with a cheap camera.

Oh, also you need to keep the camera up against the case to get clear shots.

I love this dry pak storage case. The size is ideal for my camera or for other electronics like my cell phone. I use it when I'm kayaking, at the amusement park (things end up wet on those rides!), at the beach (protects from sand too), and love it for cosmetics in my suitcase (keeps the moisture IN as well as OUT). It is also useful for storage, keeping dust out of my camera. I own several of these and have given them as gifts to visitors who come unprepared for our Florida water activities. Everyone is impressed. They are indeed clear enough that I can take photos while my camera is still in the bag and the photos turn out perfect. I have used my bags for several months and they continue to be waterproof. I love having a product that does what it claims!

We bought one this summer and my 14 year old daughter used it for three weeks with a compact camera in swimming pools and lakes, taking pictures under water. Works great, hasn't leaked. Of course, we warned her that it only works great until it starts leaking, which I'm sure it will at some point. But it's given so much better quality pictures than using a throw away under water camera that it was worth it for just these three weeks.

Takes some time getting used to opening and closing the bag, but aside from purchasing a waterproof camera, this is the best way to keep a camera dry in constant spray and splash.

Functions as described. Does keep contents dry, easy to use as well. Modern cameras that have a lens that pops out when turned on may have problems, ensure you choose a large enough dry pak and then when turning on the camera make sure there is room for the lens to expand.

Tried to use this with my camera but the case itself causes too much distortion. Can't recommend it as a camera case, but is great as dry pak for keys, wallet, phone or any other small item you need to keep dry it does an excellent job.

I bought this to take my camera on a canoeing trip. I mostly wanted splash protection, in case of a dunk or rain, and really didn't want to spend $50+ on a more fitted waterproof case.
The Kwik Tek is optically clear, and you can take good photos through it, if the bag is flat against the lens. A wrinkle or curve will be noticeable, and the material can add flare in bright sunlight, no matter how it lays against the lens.
I did take it underwater, after testing it for leaks. It worked just fine a couple feet under, and no water entered the bag.
The included strap is pretty flimsy and rough, but my Black Rapid clipped on just fine, and kept the bag from flapping too much.
Overall, these are a great choice for short trips or infrequent use. If you're looking at severe conditions, I'd go with a more fitted case, like the DiCaPacs.
