How to Adjust the Strap on your Dr Scholls...,
This review is from: Dr. Scholl's Women's Original Exercise Sandal (Apparel)
For all of you ladies wanting to adjust the straps on your beautiful Dr Scholls to make them fit tighter... First take the left shoe and face it forward. Bend the wide leather BENEATH the buckle (i.e. pinching the top and bottom part tightly together). Now pull/slide the buckle to the left. & VOILA! Pretty smooth right?! There is no need to bend or break the buckle! Do the same with the right shoe except this time you must slide the buckle out to the right... That's it! Enjoy your shoes ladies! I sure do! Love'em! Love'em! Love'em!

Great sandals helped my backache (REVISED),

This review is from: Dr. Scholl's Women's Original Exercise Sandal (Apparel)
.If your back hurts while standing, you may want to try these sandals. As a young mother of three, I found that WHENEVER I wore these sandals my chronic backache improved greatly, but they disappeared off the shelves and I was unable to buy them for decades. Now, as a GRANDmother of three, my back has been causing more pain than ever. I was so happy to find the sandals right here at good old Amazon! I've been standing for hours, and my back hurts much less now. They're wonderful. (I gave them only 4 stars because of the rough leather used in the lining of the strap. See below.) NOTE: They do require a break-in period, so be prepared to wear them for short periods at first. FOR THOSE WHO FIND THE SANDALS RUB: First of all, if they hurt, TAKE THEM OFF. Don't wait till you get blisters. For some reason, the inner lining of the straps is made of sueded leather--not too soft. (They were always made this way; I used to sandpaper them.) This doesn't bother everyone, but if it's bothering you, try lining them with DURAPORE SURGICAL TAPE (in the 2-inch size; available through your pharmacist). Just stick it on and cut the tape around the strap to fit. As you cut, you may see a little edge of tape sticking out from the strap; just press it up against the edge of the leather; the tape will stay on better. You can also try MOLESKIN (in the foot-care aisle of your supermarket), it really makes them feel great, but doesn't stick as well as the tape. IF YOU FIND YOURSELF BETWEEN SIZES (one hole is too tight, the next too loose): Try using the smaller hole, but wear them with socks until the leather stretches. Start with one sock and if they're still too small, you can wear more than one sock. IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE BUCKLE, YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! Just pinch the wider part, under the buckle--don't be afraid to hurt it. You are making a fold in the leather. Once you get it right, the buckle just slips right off the pin. Same thing to get the buckle back on. Are the sandals worth all this trouble? Even if you don't get backaches, YES. (My daughter found them so comfortable, I had to get her a pair.)

Toe ridge/grip is not what it used to be,
By
This review is from: Dr. Scholl's Women's Original Exercise Sandal (Apparel)
I recently ordered the "Original Dr. Scholl's Exercise Sandals." They came today, and I plan to return them for a very important reason: The toe ridge, or the toe grip, is absolutely nothing like the "original" Dr. Scholl exercise sandal. I knew as soon as I saw the new shoes when they came today that the ridge was not the same as the "original." I compared the new shoes side-by-side with a pair I've had. The difference in the toe ridge in the new shoes is significant. It is almost flat. The toe grip is the best feature of the Dr. Scholl's exercise sandal, and is Dr. Scholl's big selling point. I think the description of the toe grip in their ads for the "original" exercise sandal is misleading, because it just isn't what it used to be. I am disappointed in the shoes for this reason, and will return them. I started wearing Dr.Scholl's Exercise Sandals in the late 60s and I've been a fan ever since, until today.

exercise sandal,

I use to own DR. Scholl's exercise sandals back in 1982 and at the time they use to be 19.99. I wore the sandals every day and gradually got my calf in better shape, no hip or back problems. I eventually worn them out by 1986 and had a hard time finding them since then, until I searched Amazon.com and found them again and the price is still reasonable. I love the navy and the white colors. I put mine in my wish list for my birthday or mothers' day.here is how you measure. put you foot ( if even doesn't matter wich foot, if uneven use the loner foot to determine your size). take a 11x12 paper and make two marks one at the heel and one at the big toe then look at the chart put your finger on the inches (foot measurement) and run across to see your size. remember these sandals only run in whole sizes, so if your half go up one. also know your width Women: Size Inches CM 4 8 ¼ 21 4 ½ 8 ½ 21.6 5 8 5/8 21.9 5 ½ 8 ¾ 22.2 6 9 22.9 6 ½ 9 1/8 23.2 7 9 ¼ 23.5 7 ½ 9 ½ 24.1 8 9 5/8 24.4 8 ½ 9 ¾ 24.8 9 10 25.4 9 ½ 10 1/8 25.7 10 10 ¼ 26 10½ 10 ½ 26.7 11 10 5/8 27 12 11 27.9 13 11 ¼ 28.6 I hope this helps you to determine your size. I wear 8 1/2 in shoes, I measured my foot and it is 10 inches. I ran my finger across the chart and found my size, so, the sandals I need a 9 in Dr. scholls. remember each manufacture is diffrent in their sizes, so , measure up. ;)

Old school exercise sandals that still rock!!!,

I forgot how shapely the legs look when wearing Dr. Scholl's! There's a slight hump underneath the base of the second toe which forces the wearer to grip the hump while walking. Va va va voom!!!!!!! Too bad we can't still go to the local drug store, plop down ten bucks, ditch the box and walk away with a great pair of sandals and legs to die for.

Blisters: The suede part is soft; that didn't give me blisters at all. But I can only wear these shoes 3-4 hours at a time, before I get blisters on the bottom of my foot (like where you get it if you wore high heels).Muscle power: Still, I wear these to school, and I can feel the burn in my legs when I'm rushing to my classes (cuz I'm always late hehe). My legs have become more toned, muscular, and fit. Sole: The bottom sole did not last long for me, but no sole lasts for that long on concrete anyways. Especially if you drag your feet sometimes like I do. Doesn't matter, I still wear them even if it's down to the wood! Weight: The wood gives the shoe some heavy weight so you have to pick up the shoe with your toe grip when you walk. If I stepped on your toes with these shoes, it WILL hurt :D Buckle: I had no problem with the buckle, I mean, the box even came with instructions on that. No rocket science. Look: At first glance, I didn't think that these shoes were that sexy, but when you paint your toenails and show them off, it's actually quite sexy with your foot showing some skin. Size: They are really, really true to size (length-wise). I have narrow feet (B), and only the tightest buckle will fit me (unless you're wearing socks... but who would wanna wear socks for these? It looks silly... okay I did it once). Noise factor: You definitely can hear me if I'm coming on hard ground. Overall: These shoes are great!

Not what they used to be!!,
This review is from: Dr. Scholl's Women's Original Exercise Sandal (Apparel)
I also purchased a pair thinking they were the original sandals that I had worn and loved for so many years. Not only is the wood not well shaped anymore but the leather upper on any of the design sandals is thin fabric and thus flimsy. The best part of the original sandals was the great toe grip. That is what made this sandal famous and gave us all such wonderful calves! The new ones are almost flat. I also sent mine back but beware... check this before you buy. I had to pay a restocking fee to send them back! So you pay shipping, then hate them and send them back paying more shipping AND a restocking fee. Might as well have kept them. I am very disappointed and wrote to Dr Scholls to let them know.

First pair I had I was 10. I've been in love with them ever since. However, I wear them in the house with socks for a month to soften the leather first, since it's usually a bit hard.Great shoe!

Good shoe but soft sole,
By
This review is from: Dr. Scholl's Women's Original Exercise Sandal (Apparel)
I have been a fan of Dr. Scholl's exercise sandals for over 25 years, but I must admit I am disappointed with the quality of the new soles. The wood is excellent, smooth, and feels great, and the top strap is still a top quality leather, lined with soft suede. However, the sole is a very soft material that easily picks up rocks and gravel, which become deeply embedded in the sole, making it difficult to walk and occassionally twist my ankles, until I can pick the rocks out--usually requiring a screwdriver. Some are so deep, that I cannot get them out, and others leave hole in the soles. I can't wear the shoes in my house once they have been outside, because the embedded rocks will damage my floor surfaces. Also the heel of the sandals has already worn through to the wood in only two weeks of very light use, becasue it was so soft and now they are very noisey to walk in on cement. I will have to use Shoe Goo to build up the sole again. On the one hand I was very happy with them--as they were almost everything I remembered and expected in comfort and fit, but I am very disappointed with the poor quality of the new, soft, sole material, which clearly is not suitable for a (an outdoor) shoe sole.

Here's how you loosen the buckle...,
By
This review is from: Dr. Scholl's Women's Original Exercise Sandal (Apparel)
Love, love LOVE these shoes. They have been a staple in my summer shoe wardrobe for 30 years! When I was a teen I could only get them in the drug stores. When I saw them for $3.00/pair one summer in the late 70s, I anticipated they were going out of style, so I bought 10 pair and gingerly wore them (and wore them out) for the next 20 years! Luckily they are back, but still hard to find to purchase. For the ladies who are having difficulty loosening the buckle, here's how I do it: Sitting, place the left shoe face up in between your knees. Grasp the rounded end of the leather with your right thumb/forefinger and hold tight. With your left hand, SLIDE the buckle to your left, enough to clear the post sticking through the grommet. If it's a little stiff, put a drop of household oil in between the buckle and grommet. This should be enough to lift the leather over the post and adjust your shoe. Repeat the procedure for the right shoe. Don't give up...they're too nice of a shoe not to wear. |
