Book Description

Can love transcend time to rewrite the past?

The night before their wedding, Nicolo Covelli's fiancé disappeared without a trace. He grieved for her until the day he died.

115 years later, Rachel Delacourte is suddenly plagued with nightmares where she is entombed alive. But it's not just the nightmares that compel her to seek help from the Covelli sleep clinic, it's the errotic dreams that follow and the disturbing feeling that the man in her dreams is real.

He’d never met Rachel, but he knew her intimately all the same. His fingers had sifted through her silky dark hair, traced the line of her delicate jaw, caressed her soft skin. Night after night she came to him while he slept and made love to him in his dreams. For a year now, she has haunted him, consumed his mind both day and night, and it made Nic wonder…was he the one haunting Rachel Delacourte’s dreams as well?

3.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing and well-written, unconvincing ending January 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
For a year, Rachel's sleep has been interrupted, first by a nightmare of being shut up in a wall and left to die, and second by having mind-blowing sex with a guy she's never met. At the same time, Nic has been having the same mind-blowing sex dream, and when he meets Rachel, he recognizes her as the woman in the dream. Nic is a sleep specialist and Rachel is his patient.

It turns out that, coincidentally, Rachel, an architect, has been hired to restore Nic's great-grandfather's old home, which, incidentally, is haunted by a ghost that looks like her. As Nic and Rachel fall in love, Rachel's nightmare of a girl called Rochelle suffocating in a wall expands until she knows the truth of what happened there to Rochelle, a housemaid who Niccolo (our Nic's great-grandfather's father) was planning to elope with the next day.

Here's where the plot begins to unravel: Nic and Rachel figure out a way to use Rachel's dream to warn Rochelle of the dastardly plot against her. O-kay. However, neither realizes at first that if they are successful, history will be changed and Nic, a descendent of his great-great-grandfather's marriage-of-convenience that happened because of Rochelle's disappearance, would never exist. Even when they DO realize it, Nic insists that they have to try it or else live with the knowledge that they didn't try to help her. Even though he knows it probably means he will never have existed. Now THIS is a little too heroic to be believed! And THAT leads to the ending that makes absolutely no sense at all.

I did enjoy this story. I think the writer has a lot of potential. However, the way she incorporated the supernatural elements was not well-thought-out.

This story is everything I enjoy in a romance with the added benefit of a powerful plot-line.

The idea of past violence and lovers torn apart by those with evil in their hearts and a hidden agenda - it's a difficult thing to get across to your readers with the right level of emotion... but Kimberley Reeves pulls it off with panache!

The overall concept that 'Love conquers all - even time itself' is complemented by the author's fluid, smooth style of writing. Her characters are easy to visualise and connect with, the settings also beautifully described and the plot links the past and present events perfectly.

I enjoyed this story from beginning to end and highly recommend it to fans of the romance genre, especially if you like a paranormal twist to your reading material! Enjoy...

I really enjoyed this book, and I'll be honest - at two different points, it literally gave me chills as something was revealed. I really enjoyed the premise of the novel; I'm not much of a ghost story person, but this was one that was so romantic that anyone could get into it.

The plot was very enjoyable. Rachel's dreams are haunted - by both a heart-searing tragedy and an amazing lover. When she meets Nic, she learns that not only are her dreams haunted - but his are too, and better yet...they're haunting each other. The story deepens as they explore the tragedy haunting Rachel's dreams as well, a tragedy that centers around Nic's family and the mansion Rachel has been hired to redesign. As the ghost of a woman long dead reaches out to Rachel, seeking to right a wrong in her love story from 2 generations ago, the tragedy unfolds and breaks your heart the more you learn. Together, she and Nic concoct a plan to right the wrong his family did to the unfortunate woman who died over a hundred years earlier - but at a potentially high cost.

While I liked the premise a lot, I have to admit I didn't get terribly attached to either of the characters and I'm not sure why. We don't get to see a lot of them; most of it centers around the ghost story and the characters from then are much more devleoped than Nic and Rachel are, which is unfortunate. We don't know much more than bits about Nic and about Rachel we know very little more - we do know their passion, but even that is only briefly described. While I hardly expected lewd descriptions, at one point an entire sex act that supposedly takes hours is described in a sentence. It just felt...abbreviated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely... February 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Let me start by saying I'm not some namby-pamby, lovey-dovey, pedal pulling, she-loves-me-she-loves-me-not reader. It's not me. I like thrillers, baby. Which is exactly what I told my wife when she dared me to read her new favorite author. So the game was on.
I picked Dream Lover, cuz I mean come on, it's called Dream Lover - obviously I was gonna win this thing hands down.
It opens with a woman being buried alive (wait, what?) and falls quickly into an evenly paced, effortless read with lots of back and forth dialogue that had me chuckling and smiling. Charming, is the right word. The love-making is well written and not so prevelant that it took away from the plot - which was very well done. It had me to the end.
In short, I loved it, and I lost my dare. Will I read more of my wife's fav? Yes. Will I admit it to her?
