5.0 out of 5 stars Astonishing
It is simply astonishing how closely Driver 2 Advance plays to the Playstation version of Driver 2. First thing you'll notice are the great 3-D graphics and smooth controls. You get to steal any car you can find in order to proceed on your mission and you go through the cities of Chicago and Rio de Janero in Brazil (fans of the PS version will notice that the Havana and...

3.0 out of 5 stars A BIT GENERIC AND BLAND 6 OUT OF 10
While the PSone original had its own problems the GBA transition isn't exactly a welcome thought. The graphics look decent for a handheld but the gameplay doesn't seem to be in the same league. Car theft is noticeably harder to pull off, the city feels lifeless, the controls are a pain at times, and damage modeling is non-existant. It still retains some of the fun as the...

It is simply astonishing how closely Driver 2 Advance plays to the Playstation version of Driver 2. First thing you'll notice are the great 3-D graphics and smooth controls. You get to steal any car you can find in order to proceed on your mission and you go through the cities of Chicago and Rio de Janero in Brazil (fans of the PS version will notice that the Havana and Vegas locations are missing) and the cities are fairly large, and the best part is you can pretty go anywhere in the city while fulfilling one of the missions. The simplicity of Driver 2 Advance is also a breeze and a lot of fun. This is how to port a great game to the GBA, the developers at Sennari far succeeded my expectations (I thought the game would be godawful) and have created one of the best GBA titles available right now. All in all, Driver 2 Advance is a great, fun game that GBA owners should definitely check out. I only hope the upcoming GBA port of Grand Theft Auto 3 follows the same blueprint that Driver 2 does.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, November 18, 2002

This review is from: DRIVER 2 - GBA (Video Game)
I just bought this game yesterday, and have enjoyed playing it for several hours. It has good graphics(for a gba game),two huge levels to drive in,excellent driving games, the best driving physics ever on gameboy, and tons of levels. And new to the gba version is new multiplayer. That's right, 4 player driver!!! The best multiplayer is definitely cops n' robbers. One person is the robber, and however many others are playing(1-3)are the cops. This mode is so fun because it brings even more strategy to the game.
The sound on this game is absolutely horrible...if you use the speaker. With headphones on you can hear the music and car sounds. For instance, the van actually sounds different than a small car.
Now for 4star reasons. Although this game is 3D, it has some sprite and level design issues. There are 6 angles in total to your car, one behind,in front, and partial angle sideways from front and back. One of the things I liked about driver 2 for ps was the jumps and off ramps. And how could they take out the raising bridges!! Also there is no film editor or any replay due to save space.
Overall this is a good game to buy, especially if your friends have it too. If you've never played driver rent it or borrow it from a friend first.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME!, February 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: DRIVER 2 - GBA (Video Game)
This is my favorite game for gameboy or gameboy advance. I've never played a game with better grapics, not to mention cool music, great gameplay, and fun but chalenging levels. If you like the Playstationversion of this game, you will defintly LOVE this game. You can play multi player multiplayer whitch is very cool, you can play undercover mode, witch has many different fun levels to play as you work as a detective, ther is also Take a ride where you can get chased by cops, take cars and vans, and even blow 'em up. this is over all a great game that I recomend to everyone.

Car theft is noticeably harder to pull off, the city feels lifeless, the controls are a pain at times, and damage modeling is non-existant. It still retains some of the fun as the PSone original, like the missions and the police chases, but it still lacks the finesse of the original. So just go play the PSone original, you'll have more fun with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too much driving, October 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: DRIVER 2 - GBA (Video Game)
As the name suggests, you imagine the game will have a lot to do with driving but I thought this game was F1! Apparently it is not as I was horrified to discover though there is a good get away in a Team Maclaren F1 in levels 8 and 9. Overall, if you bought this game you will most enjoy the helicopter shoot-out against Rick's foe Dimitry van der Lubbe in level 32. You will probably find the best bit is in level 21 when you have to drive a Panzer Tank into Dimitri's HQ! Its a great game!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's better than the first one, December 2, 2002
This review is from: DRIVER 2 - GBA (Video Game)
Driver 2 is a mildly impressive technical feat...well, for a GBA game anyway. The 3D cityscapes (there are two, Chiago and Rio de Janerio) are enormous; your vehicles are easy to handle; the physics are keen; even the sensation of smashing into citizens, patio furniture and ohter cars feels pretty "right". Now if only the game were a little more exciting...D2's main story mode features and inpressive 30 missions, each of which has you doing essentailly the same thing: get from point A to B and sometimes C while avoiding traffic and a couple of cars on your tail. Sometimes things are mixed up a litle- slowly follow a car to point B, ram a car until it explodes, but it's not enough to stop you from thinkin "I could be at home raising some real hell on GTA 3 right now..."

4.0 out of 5 stars I DON`T AGREE WITH JESSICA!!, April 2, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: DRIVER 2 - GBA (Video Game)
I like this game alot its very much like the 2000 hit Driver 2 on Playstation ONE,and the missions are 90% the same and you get 2 cities Chicago and Rio De Janiero and both are half cities because the GameBoy:Advance has not got enough power to include full scale of the 4 cities, because if Reflections,Atari and Sunnari tried the game will mess up and freeze alot like Rockstar and others attempted to sqeeze GTAIII into the small cart. and there are now rumours saying it has cancelled or just been made in the classic helicoptors view style.Anyways this game is not the Racing genre its just Driving cos, you`re not a pro- racer wearing branded sponsors on a leather suit with a helmet and on a special track with a spercial type of car,No this game is about a half-sided cop, over half Criminal called Tanner who returns to Undercover with a friend,Jones. The games main charictors are Tanner,Jones,"Pink" Lenny,Caine,Jericho and Vasquez all of these guys are criminal and are far from friends the groups are Tanner and Jones,Caine and Jericho,Vasquez and Lenny.the story begins when Lenny cuts a deal with a rival, one of Vasquezes soldiers(Gangsters) and switches sides and then trying to make his former boss,Caine die but later in the game Tanner joins with Caine to take down Vasquez. The graphics of the game are alright but ever one looks like LEGO people but the 3D areas look cool. The sounds are good but the music is lame.overall this game is great i reccomend it to any one 8+.

3.0 out of 5 stars I have actually played this game =), September 28, 2002

The grapics are good, it has nice 3D, although the car sprites could have been made up of more frames.
When you steer left or right, the back view car sprite turns to a complete new one without any in-between sprites to make a smooth steer.

There are some gfx issues. Car sprites pop up on a corner even though you didn't reach the point where you'd actually see the car.

Overall, the game feels exaclty as the PC version, although the frame rate could use some tweaking. Plus, you get GTA3 gameplay cause you steal cars and stuff.

RENT IT, then maybe buy.
