Don't waste your time or money with this product. I tried to insert the battery and it didn't fit in the battery slot. I compared this battery's dimensions to the Nintendo battery. This battery is .8 mm too big to fit into the battery compartment.

Positive - the screwdriver that comes with the battery fits the nintendo DS lite screw well.

Negatives -
#1 - The battery I received is a very tight fit. This is advertized on the package as "you can swap batteries in a snap". It was difficult to get the battery in, and required a small flathead screwdriver to pry it back out (the screw is a phillips, so you need to take an extra flathead with you). Not what I would call "a snap".

The original nintendo battery goes in and comes out of the battery compartment easily.

#2 - The packaging claims "up to 3 hours extra play time". I have not tested the battery because of #1, but my son has played for well over 5 hours on the original nintendo battery without requiring a recharge.

#3 - nintendo offers a replacement battery that is supposed to be the same as the one included with the ds lite for $15 plus shipping.

I highly suggest you skip over this, and purchase a Nintendo original. I purchased this battery as a spare, because I do quite a bit of trans-pacific travel. The claims for this battery are that it will give you 3 hours of play time. I find this ridiculous. In all of my attempts, I have received a little over 1 hour of actual play time. While I have had no problems with it fitting into the battery slot, it seems that others have.

Thought this was a good deal but was too tight and I ended up forcing it into the DS and now the DS won't work at all. All in all, a very expensive replacement battery as I had to replace the DS at a much higher price than original.

The screwdriver provided doesn't actually open the compartment! And then the battery still didn't work when I managed to pry the compartment open (although I am not sure if that is the fault of the DS or the battery). I would not buy this at all.

screwdriver doesn't quite fit, and may actually round off the screw instead of backing it out if you're not careful. The battery is a shade big for the slot. If you get it to fit (not TOO hard to do) then it works like it's supposed to.

This battery allowed us to use our DS again. Best that it came with a tool to install! It still works. If you have a DS, make sure you occasionally charge it because if the original battery is not used, it dies and the DS people want a fortune for a new one but as always, here on Amazon, you save money buying their products. This was well worth it and it is still working well after all this time.

Received this item in record time to Hawaii! It even came with screwdriver! Perfect and my DS is working fine! Yippee! Mahalo and much Aloha!

I had a long-unused DS Lite that I wanted to recoup, but the original Nintendo battery would no longer hold any charge. Every time I plugged it into the charger, the orange light would come on for one second and then go black. Rather than write off the unit, I decided to try replacing the battery as the most likely failure point. An original Nintendo battery is $15 plus shipping, which was more than I was willing to risk on a theory. Despite the negative reviews, I took a gamble on this generic battery. The results have been completely satisfactory. The battery fit snugly but didn't prevent the lid from fitting properly. It immediately held a charge and performs at least as well as the original did (several hours of use per charge). Even the included screwdriver worked perfectly on the tiny battery cover screw. Especially given the price, I'm extremely happy with the results from this battery.

I had been looking into getting a replacement battery for my Nintendo DS Lite for years once it started to lose its life within 2-3 hours of constant gameplay on the brightest setting. With this battery, I've more than doubled how long it'll last with the screen at its brightest. It holds a charge well and its cheaper than most options on the market. Plus it comes with a cute little screwdriver to help you install it.

However, it doesn't fit perfect. It makes the battery compartment cover piece bulge out ever so slightly that I can feel the ridge when holding it, but to me that is a non-issue.
