One word to describe these; Amazing,

I've found the best use for these products to actually be something other than what they are advertised for. As many people may be unaware of most of the electronics in your home actually drain energy even when turned off, just being plugged in they drain electricity. A couple of months ago I decided to get into the habit of unplugging everything to help save energy but it grew troublesome for some electronics because the plugs were under desks or behind objects. I even said to myself I wish they'd invent a way so I could do this with a remote and voila! They already had!
This works perfectly, with just one remote I can cut the power to 3 electrical outlets. I have a device that measures how many watts devices use and this cuts power 100% so those electronics are no longer draining power and these devices themselves use up so little power it doesn't even register on my device. Buy these and use them to save money, help lower our dependence on oil and help save the enviornment, how can you possibly lose?!

I bought the DSI EZ Outlet Remote based on the reviews and have not been disappointed. You get three wall units and the remote control and they are very easy to set up. Basically, plug the units into your outlets, plug your lights or small appliances into the units and turn them on. The wall units are each numbered and correspond to the numbered buttons on the remote. You can also turn the units on/off manually. One thing that did surprise me was the size of the wall units - they are approximately 5" x 2 6/8" x 2 3/4" - and they don't leave much room to enable you to plug something else into the bottom of the wall outlet. You might want to take that into consideration before you buy this product.

My mother is disabled, and she has found this incredibly useful. With a light plugged into each outlet, she is able to effortlessly control the illumination. It works from anywhere in her apartment, even when she's in the next room!

Amazing.
I live in a ~2500 square foot loft with ceiling outlets, so it's needless to say that i was relieved to find a product like this one. So far, the range of the wireless remote is quite impressive-- 30 feet away through a wall (these are rf as opposed to infa red, so line-of-sight isn't required) is no problem. I was initially put off by the reviews mentioning having to walk right up to the outlets, but being stubborn took a gamble on them. Not sure what the case is in these other reviewers-- the outlets work great, even from far distances/through walls. perhaps they were running into radio interference of some sort? Regardless, i'm quite pleased.

Range is excellent, and the product appears to be well made. I use it to turn on/off my bar lights and neon signs. One small concern; if u are running the microwave, the switch may not work - until your dinner is done!

These devices allow you to remotely control a lamp. Now instead of having to wander round the room turning lights on I just flick the room switch and every lamp comes on together. No setup hassles, just press a switch on this device then hold the light switch for 10 seconds and the two are linked together. No addressing, no reliability issues, it just works. So much better than X10.

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to share my experience with this item.
This unit suffered from a remote that stopped clicking after a while and would activate itself by gravity alone. Just setting the unit down resulted in the tiny bit of weight of the button itself depressing the 'activator' inside the unit with no click. I had to balance the unit on its side when setting it on the night stand to keep it from turning on and off by itself when I walked across the floor. I tried another model of the same type of product. The unit worked for a couple of days, then the lamp attached to it started to cut off after a few minutes. It would turn back on when prompted by the remote only to turn off again a few minutes later. The lamp worked fine when connected directly to the outlet without the unit. I think the units, although of different names and slight design differences, might have been made by the same mfg. I realize the units may be made by different companies, my point is that the two variations of devices I owned both stopped working after little use. I have no proof of this but I attribute their faultiness to being poorly slapped together over seas. Again, this is a great idea and was great for a few days but terrible QC rendered them a waste of money in a very short time. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a good one, it could be dumb luck that I just got stuck with a couple of lemons in a row. However, I would advise caveat emptor on this one. |
