Traps have no oil or protectant on them due to odor. They all rust, supposed to boil in walnut or hickory hulls and bees wax

I have never used a trap in my life, but wanted one for my b.o.b. It seems pretty solid and I don't think an animal larger than even a coyote (or so) would be able to get out of it. I tried it out with a stick and it works quite well. Just be careful when you set it up and make sure to lift the "pedal" portion high enough to catch the release bar properly. These things are dangerous. Make sure no pets are around the area you plan to use it. I am only giving it 3 out of 5 stars as the it is not made out of stainless steel, so it may rust.

October 9th: Just went an made some changes to my b.o.b. I pulled this out of a cloth bag in which it was stored. COMPLETELY RUSTED!!! I have only had it for a couple weeks, and this thing has been eaten by rust. I am actually afraid to use it now as the catch bar is rusted too. If it snaps when setting this trap, it may be you that gets caught. I contemplated using an oil on this trap when putting it in my bag, but was afraid it would give off a scent that would be counter productive.

I had to demote this product from 3 stars to 1 (wish I could have given it 0 stars) for the speed at which this thing rusted. It was stored dry, in a cloth bag, and in my bedroom, so moisture was minimal. I would hate to see how one of these would handle the outdoors. I definitley do NOT recommend!!!!!
